Duchess: As a fan of Strange and Norrell, you might like to hear about Clarke's short story collection out later this year, The Ladies of Grace Adieu. It includes stories in the same setting as Strange & Norrell, and even an appearance by Strange himself. I believe it is due for release around October.

The last thing I needed was another book, but today I picked up a novella collection called Dates from Hell...where people are saddled with dates from...Hell. Their dates turn out to be demons, werewolves, and other undead emotional f-wits. 
I couldn't resist either the title or the premise.

Skeleton Crew is my favorite of the King story collections.
The Mist is my all-time favorite novella.
Survivor Type is the most horrifying short story I've ever read.

Survivor Type is just sick. It's one of King's stories that I've only read once and don't need to read again (like The Boogeyman, which still scares the willies out of me when I think about it). I can't remember which book it's in, but Beachworld is another great one.
