I wanted to thank all of my fellow Land citizens for extending a warm welcome to me here. For years I felt exiled in my readings of SRD because nobody I have known would read the books. I no longer feel Unhomed . Indeed,I return honor to the givers of this welcome.
You can judge the true character of a person on how they treat those who can do nothing for them

I could almost claim this to be my story too, but I found the books before anyone else did. I remember going to the bookstore and buying the paperback very close to the day it was released... and I've been hooked ever since. I have YET to get anyone to read them, and they know not what they are missing!!!demondim spawn wrote:Greetings!
I'm an old hand at forums, but I'm a late bloomer at this one.
About a thousand years ago, an old friend whom I'd lost contact with for a century or three recommended I read a book called Lord Foul's Bane.
I replied that reading a book with such a silly title was the last thing I was going to be doing. However, he would not take no for an answer and browbeat until I relented.
That was the beginning of a love affair with the
First and Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever that continues to this day.
I myself have pestered the uninitiated to read them; some showing the same skepticism and contempt prior to investigation that I displayed in my ignorance.
Nevertheless. <--Donaldsonism

Anyway, here I am. Better Late Than Never. (Obviously not too late, for my superior screenname was strangely still available.)
Anyway, while I am waiting for the next one to come out, I have decided to reread them all again (for the umpteenth time), and while searching for something today, I stumbled upon the site. Thank you to the Maker! I just wish a site like this had been available when this journey started. I look forward to chatting and getting to know everyone!

I know exactly how you feel. That's what drew me to the Watch to begin with, and I haven't regretted it since (though I seemed to have misplaced my soul somewhere around here).hearthrall antonicus wrote:I wanted to thank all of my fellow Land citizens for extending a warm welcome to me here. Hello to all!
I'm a complete newbie lured here by Menolly. She and I have known each other for 15 years now, ever since our children were wee ones. I'm still floundering a bit on this site and in this realm, which is foreign and strange to me.
I'm hoping to meet some wonderful people who will guide me on my way. Until then, you'll find me lurking on the more familiar turf of the Galley, where I'll be sharing my vegetarian experiences and philosophies and reading all about food!
Until we meet...

I was probably standing right next to you at that bookstore. Good to know I'm not the only graduate of the first class.......
welcome, one newbie to another!
