Now, 32 years later, I have just retired after having spent 24 years in the Navy. I was stationed on Submarines and spent most of my spare time reading. I would reread the two series every few years when I was out to sea. They have remained my favorite of all time.

Hi, and Welcome. I was on submarines for a few years as well. I think Syl was also prior Navy. I read the chrons underway a few times as well.

This is a good place. We are glad you are here.

Excited about finding Kevins watch

Post by Wheelwash Whitecap »

Hello,

I am happy to find this website. I initially read the TC chronicles 1 & 2 back in the early 80's. When recently I found out about the Third Chronicles, I went back and reread both 1 & 2 as well as ROTE and I am currently reading FR. I look forward to reading the last two as soon as they come out. I also enjoy reading about other members comments about the scenes, and characters.

Since I am new to KW, I need to find out how to get whitegold dollars and tokens.

Thanks

Be Welcome to the Watch, Wheelwash Whitecap.

You earn WGDs and tokens by posting in various forums.
Tokens are earned by playing games in Mallory's.
HPs are earned by posting and playing the role playing games in Gravin Threndor.
WGDs are earned by posting pretty much everywhere else.

Then there is the All your WGDs are mine thread in Gen Disc. You can post a request there for any of the three, despite the title of the thread. Any generous-minded Watcher may then choose to donate to you. It helps if you state what your goal for the WGDs, HPs, or Tokens are.

We did also have a game in Gen Disc called Win Wayfriend's Money which was a lot of fun. It has been in hiatus for a while, but I know I hope wayfriend will be inspired to start it up again at some point.

Enjoy your time at the Watch! Be careful of the Last Chronicles forum, if you are still on your first read through of FR.

I look forward to your posts. :)

You do not hear, and so you cannot be redeemed.

In the name of their ancient pride and humiliation, they had made commitments with no possible outcome except bereavement.

He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.

Welcome to the Watch, Wheelwash Whitecap. Surely you reveal an affinity for Giants in your name? Or automobile cleaning products ... :)

Hello all. I just joined the forum after reading FR and finding out that there were 2 more installments that have not been released yet (something to look forward to, I suppose- sure would like to move on to the next book though).

Anyway- I am "really new"- have not picked an avatar, probably could have picked a better nickname (I use this one in other forums). I read the entire Covenant series about 20 years ago, reread the first books recently and just finished FR. I am semi-retired ( they say there are jobs out there, but not so far), married, 2 grown kids. Have jumped around in the forum and it looked like a good place to visit- so I joined.

Appreciate any suggestions- good places to visit, things to do. Thanks.

Be Welcome to the Watch, Markcw98.
Be Well Come and True.

What type of things interest you?
The Watch covers nearly any and all interests.

We have a hidden Writers Circle forum, which is a workshop based forum for authors to discuss their ongoing projects (I think; I'm not a member).
We also have the Hall of Gifts, where finished projects of any kind can be shared, as long as they are sharable via text or graphics.
We have debate in the Think Tank, religion and philosophy discussions in The Close, Science and Technology discussions in The Loresraat, Cooking in The Galley, text based role playing in Gravin Threndor, as well as discussion on authors other than SRD in The Library.

And there is so much more...

Enjoy exploring.
I look forward to your posts. :)

Indeed, welcome Markcw98!

While Menolly covered many of the nooks to be found in the Watch, an unmentioned one that may interest you is In Pursuit of Mallory. This forum, named for a bar and gathering-place that appears in the Gap series, is a place where Watchers (both those of us of a certain age and those yet to attain that age) match wits -- or the lack thereof -- at a wide variety of stimulating mental games.
