Hi, just thought I'd stick my head in and send greetings from Oregon. I first (not the last) read the first chronicles accidentally in reverse as I had found The Power That Preserves for a quarter at my grandmother's garage sale. I have no idea how she came to have it, as she was definitely not a science fiction and/or fantasy reader. I halfway suspect that she was given the book because it sounds vaguely religious (preserving, covenant, etc.)
So ended up reading the books as I found them and read them TPTP, TIW, and then finally Lord Foul's Bane. Devoured them, and then the second chronicles, and there it rested until quite recently.
Anyhow, just finished another complete re-read of the eight books that I have. I have to say, even here 20-25 years after I read the first one, Covenant is possibly the single most complex character I've ever tried to comprehend. I think perhaps I've got a better grasp on it than I used to, but I still don't know if I grok the extremity of his bargains. I've been relatively pleased with these last two books -- having Linden as a mature driving force is a pleasure after the second chronicles.

Saying Hello
Hello,
I've been an avid reader of the Covenant books after I came across the first one in a second hand book shop in 1979.
The second one, (it could have been the third!), I bought in a bookshop.
Although it was new, it was a bit tatty, but I couldn't wait to read it, so bought it and took it home.
On getting about halfway through, it suddenly started to repeat from the start.
There must have been some error at the printers, as the first half of the book was repeated totally for the second half!
I took the book back to exchange it, but they weren't too keen as they said that I hadn't treated the book very well, and they finally agreed to an exchange.
However, the new copies on the shelves were exactly the same condition as mine:- tatty and mis-printed, so, after reading the first half, I then had to wait for the shop to get new stock in.
It was worth the wait though.
I'm assuming, that because my copy was repeating the first half, I suppose that there were copies floating around that repeated the second half!
Anybody have one of those?
The books made such an impression an me and my band mates, that we named our band Kempers Pitch, although the name didn't seem to help giving us world-wide fame.
I always intended doing a 'Solo Album' of music inspired by 'The Chroncles', and in 1986, I got around to doing one track called 'Ride of the Ranyhyn'.
While I was fairly pleased with the result, I wasn't totally happy with it, and shelved it for a while.
Almost 23 years later, I got a new synth, and decided to re-work the old tune.
If anybody would like to hear it, it can be found at:-

Anyway, enough waffle.

No...more waffle. I like waffle. Yum!Jiffy wrote: Anyway, enough waffle.
Sorry, I have no sound where I'm at right now (I am in a vaccuum), so I cannot comment on the song. But I like waffle.

Time is a waste of life
So get wasted all of the time
And you'll have the time of your life

Be Welcome to the Watch, Jiffy.
Be Well Come and True.
Please consider telling us about Kempers Pitch and post the link to "Ride of the Ranyhyn" in Vespers, where I am pretty sure you will find an appreciative audience.![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

There's really not much to say about Kempers Pitch.
We didn't last long, what with members getting married, musical differences, etc.
We were mainly a covers band, although we did do some original stuff but not anything based on 'The Chronicles'.
Thanks for the tip about posting the link in Vespers.
