Hello all. I stumbled onto this forum a few weeks ago because of a thread that popped up related to some local news here in South Carolina. As you might guess from my avatar, I spend most of my free time playing with junk cars and I hadn't considered joining but the sustained polite discourse I observed prompted me to check out the forum in a little more detail. At this time I have no idea who Stephen Donaldson is but from what I can tell of his fans here, he must have some manner of talent and I aim to remedy the trouble in the next week or so. So far as books go, I mostly read Dean Koontz though I do keep a number of sci-fi books from various authors on the shelves.

Be welcome to the Watch, dmc.
Be Well Come and True.

Search around in various areas for topics of interest. We have several members who haven't read SRD at all, but who are active members of the Watch in other discussions.

I look forward to reading your posts.

Heh...I find Koontz lightweight but fun, [and a better writer than King in most way] so read a fair amount.

Hope y'have some fun here.

despite the explicit Donaldson connection, there are all sorts of other writer/literature genres/threads around, general, theoretical, and specific.

Not to mention completely non-literature topics.

Welcome DMC, as already mentioned, you don't have to be a Donaldson fan to hang out (though we do have a tendency to infect most of the non-Donaldson fans with the Donaldson bug eventually) :D

hehe, that's exactly why I read him. I can knock one of his books out on a quiet day. Some of the more involved books I've picked up have ruined entire weeks for me because I can't focus on anything without drifting back to the story and I stay up way too late with it only to have reread the last chapter or so the next day because I was technically asleep while turning those pages.

Welcome to the Watch DMC. :D

We might have other, non-SRD reading members, but the vast majority of them are here for the games in Gravin Threndor, and are here because they know somebody who was already a member.

I think your arrival here makes you, if not unique, at least very rare.

Look around, and join in anywhere. Stay outta the threads in the Chronicles, Gap and Mordants Need forums if you're gonna read some SRD. Spoilers will abound.

I like Koontz, think he's got some great books. Lighting, Watchers and Twilight Eyes come immediately to mind. Night Chills too. The only thing I don't like is that he tends to be pretty formulaic. The guy always gets the girl, y'know?

Anyway, go forth and have fun. :D

Welcome, dmc-4359. I hope you enjoy the SRD books when you read them! What does your name mean, by the way? I'm very curious!

Allo

Allo,

There is a reference there, think David Bowie and Jim Henson.

First post here, if you don't mind me venting (I am going to anyways), why do you have a case sensitive captcha when it's in all caps? I know many may not be as "oldschool" as myself when it comes to forums (In my mislead youth I was a troll and got my entire county banned from IGN forums, alas those days are behind me) but when a captcha appears as all caps typically it is NOT case sensitive. Yes, I know I should read in full before filling out the registration, however this is difficult and annoying to do on a phone.

Also for your curiosity, and edification possibly, innoBy is a truncation of inno(cent) By(stander).

Welcome innoBy

I don't have a clue what captcha is, so, I can't address that.

It's that random sequence of letters and numbers with a scrembled background, that you have to get right before you are allowed to complete the form.

Aw... I don't remember if I had to go through that back in the Stone Age in 2003 when I registered  I assume it's due to the increase in Spambots?

*shrug* It's a captcha module for the board software. We can't set whether it's case sensitive or not.
