Thank you, everybody!

And yes, I've been here for the past 10 years. One of my earliest memories is sitting on my mother's lap as she typed to you. :-)
Be still heart, hold peace, and be still.

Back to the Land movement

Post by Bucking Staff »

Hey all...I guess Buck would be easier to call me than Bucking Staff. Do we live under the SunBane for reals these days or what?! Arguably Ive actually been to the Land, as I dreamed it a few times over the decades. I read the original series many times and The Power that Preserves many many many times (as well as select parts of IllEarthWar - The Covenant Prophecy at the Rock Gardens in particular) I also dug the second series and I dug the first 2 books in the 3rd series, but I cannot understand why anyone would like the last two books. To me it almost seems someone else wrote the ending. I found it alienating and it made me sad that it ended so poorly. Ive come to the Watch to see if there are others who found the last books as disappointing as I did and if they think that its in part a different writer. Besides that, I also want to banter about all the great CTC writing outside of those books. And maybe find answers to defeating my Despair over the SunBane in our own world.

Be Welcome to the Watch, Buck.
Be Well Come and True.

Feel free to discuss the Last Chrons in the sub-forums for each book. You may also want to take part in the dissection of the Last Chrons in the Dissecting the Land forum.

As far as defeating your own Despair over the SunBane in our world, you may find like minded souls (and those who may vehemently disagree with you) over in the 'tank.

Peruse the Watch, get the lay of the land here, and then jump in anywhere.

Welcome to the Watch Buck. :D I don't think it was a different writer, but you'll find plenty who agree with you. (Although in general I'm not one of them...I thought book 3 was the best of the final chrons.)

Go look around and join in. Always good to have more views. :D

Thanks for the Welcome Menolly and Jay. Its hard to imagine anyone who loves the Land, and its peoples' service to its health and beauty, could not see Pesticides, Ozone Depletion (human and animal cataracts, skin cancer), Acid Rain, Ocean Acidification, The 6th Planetary Mass Extinction (Scientific consensus and the evidence all about), Ice sheet melting and sea level risings, CO2/Methane increases(more and worse droughts, storms, winters, plants and insects and migratory birds all out of sync, etc) Nuclear Pollution and Lead and Mercury toxicity as anything but Earth's Umpteen Hells of a-Jeroth. Maybe that cant 'see' anymore.

Welcome, Bucking Staff. A fine TPTP allusion, your name. I suppose "BS" for short is right out tho. :)

Ok... I admit it, Im clueless...whats TPTP? I got the gist just not the specs. I tried Dukkha, but, obvious to me now, was taken. Maybe too depressing anyway.

Haha, you got it. :D Anything long gets broken down to save the typing. Another thing WF was alluding to by calling you BS. That's probably what it'll end up as. (Could be worse...we've got an SS...he isn't much enamoured with it, (I think he's Israeli or lives there) but I'm hell of a lazy. ;) )

(Oh, the Servant of the Land thing is a default title...after you've made...uh...5 posts I think, you can customise it to anything you want in your profile. If you leave it, it will change automatically according to your post count...think the next rank is Giant-Friend, but I can't remember. :D)

Click on the link in my sig if you want to hit the 'Tank and talk about that other bit. ;)

(Oh, and I'm not Jay. :D He's the owner and goes by "kevinswatch." I'm just sorta one of the janitors. ;) )
