Thanks!!! Slowly findinmy way round here. :)

I actually think the Covenant books exerted more influence over me than previously admitted--I too (like Murgatroid) chose white gold over other wedding rings, for just in cases (lol)!

Welcome aboard Dolfineer. :D The Gap is my favourite, although I've read the other series multiple times.

Enjoy yourself and join in. (I think quite a few Watchers have white gold rings actually. ;) )

Hi Dolfineer, welcome to the Watch!

Some of us got to meet SRD recently and it was really great. Check out some of the videos when they go up.

Greetings, Dolfineer. I really enjoyed The Gap Cycle, as well. In fact, I liked it so much I adopted a high-profile name from that series when I joined here (it surprised me that it hadn't already been taken).

Hail and welcome, Dolfineer! I am still within 150+ pages of finishing a read of the Gap Cycle for the first time, so am holding off on evaluating it until then, but am finding it an exciting read.
Like you, I love Mordant's Need. (A lot of SRD's short stories are great, too, I hasten to add.)

Anyhow, it's cool to have you aboard, and hope you have a lot of fun posting on here! It seems to be virtually limitless what can be discussed on this website, and after nearly ten months and over 300 posts, I feel I've barely scratched the surface...may you enjoy and keep commenting!

Dropping in to say hello.

I noticed this forum from a link in the Wikipedia page, so followed it - didn't realize it had existed.

I started reading the TC novels around the time that The One Tree had been released as a friend of mine bought it and recommended the series. I remember having to wait a while for the final book to be released.

Over a period of a few years in the 80s I read both the first and second chronicles a few times, but towards the end of the decade I had a purge of my books and for some reason these went. Recently I thought about them and started re-reading them, hence my visit to Wikipedia to look at the titles of the Final Chronicles books.

Anyway, I'll hang around here for a while and see if I can add anything beyond the bad jokes that I have just added :)

Welcome to the Watch, michaelm!

I see you've already posted in a few areas of the Watch...and that you are a poet, among other things. Keep going on that. We need a good alternative to our Dread Poet Jethro, who seems to do mostly haiku, but has tossed a few limericks and even a sonnet or two our way.

May you thrive here and continue to contribute!

Welcome to the Watch, michaelm!

I'm one of the many Michael's of the Watch, maybe we should start a 'Mick, Mike, call me what you like!' thread  I generally don't mind, but if you want to bug me, call me 'Micky'. Grrrr!

To reiterate what the good folk above have said: don't be shy, ask questions, join in ongoing threads, resuscitate old ones, and start new ones. And when you've had your fill of SRD-related material check out the other stuff we do really well here: General Sci-fi and Fantasy, writing and literature, philosophy and spirituality in The Close, politics and current affairs in the 'Tank, fun and games in Mallory's, as well as sports, cooking, music, role-playing, comics and so on.

Some of recently had the pleasure of meeting SRD in Albuquerque. Check out the Elohimfest 2014 thread here.

Be Welcome and True!

Really?
Spoiler
(Don't worry. I wouldn't actually do that to you. I've had my share of nicknames I didn't like, and have nearly come to blows with people who wouldn't stop using them.)
