Don't worry Sarge, I don't have a bone of guile in my body. I'm not sophisticated enough to run multiple identities (rofl)sgt.null wrote:Am I the only o e without an alter ego?

Newbie
Stopped by looking for when "The Last Repository" is expected and was inspired to say greetings to fellow SRD fans. I'm an old dude that discovered SRD so long ago that I've forgotten a lot of what I've read over the years. But I think I've read all of his work (much of it twice). The one exception is I"ve been unable to track down Man Who Killed His Brother. As much as I love the Wounded Land, Mordant's Need is my fave.

Newbie saying hello
Hello.
Just working my way through all the audio books. Well into TWL at the moment. I have all the books but only read up to about the middle of TROTE, although I have them all, and decided it is time to go from the start to the finish this time.
It is a totally different experience using the audio books. Some strange name pronunciations and different voices to what I imagined and hope the new narrator on the Last Chronicles doesn't ruin it for me. But Americans have a way of talking all of their own... I am from England btw.

It no longer makes a solitary sound, it simply rotates its bare earth ground.
Desert sands now rule this rock, whilst other planets stare and mock.
The earth is drained of all that it holds, due to mindless insensitive souls. "

Be Welcome to the Watch, db.
Be Well Come and True.
Scott Brick, who narrates many of the Covenant books, has posted here on the Watch as audio covenant. He sat and discussed pronunciation with SRD before doing his narrations. My understanding is SRD has always maintained the words should be pronounced as the individual reader sees fit, but for Scott's narration, he did give some guidance.
Whether that is the case with other narrators, I have no idea.

Neither of the audio versions I am reading with my ears are by Scott Brick. The first 6 are by John Chancer and the last 4 are by Tim Gerard Reynolds. I was amazed to find 1 but to know there is more than one is incredible.

Ah. And while I knew there were other narrators for a few of the novels, I didn't realize the UK and regions were unable to get a hold of Scott's versions.darthbuzz wrote:Neither of the audio versions I am reading with my ears are by Scott Brick. This page lists the chrons Scott has narrated, but it says right on the page
I'm uncertain how you would be able to get a hold of them.brickbybrick audio books wrote:Note to customers in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Africa Territories: all Thomas Covenant audiobook titles by Stephen R. Donaldson are not available for purchase (both download and CD versions) due to publishing restrictions. Many apologies for the inconvenience.

Brick's narrations are the gold standard for SRD audiobooks.
For those in the embargoed territories, consider having friends / acquaintances / fellow Watchers not under those restrictions obtain and forward the CDs.
Or come to the USA for an Elohimfest, buy what you want, and take it home.
