I can't believe there isn't a thread for this show.

I just got the 1st season DVDs, and I'd forgotten just how great a show it was. Way back in '96, it was on right after the X-Files. It was another Chris Carter show, but in my opinion blew the X-Files away.

It was dark, really dark. It dealt with horrific crimes. It had Lance Henrikson....

It was beautifully filmed. And it was damn creepy.

And yet, no one watched it. It bugged me then, and it still bugs me. This was the kind of television the medium should've been.

10 years later, it still stands up as one of the best series ever on the tube.

I heard a whisper about it when it first aired here and I meant to watch it, but never did. Then it seemed to vanish after about three episodes. After that I completely forgot about it.

I liked ot too... the opening scene of the final episode of season one, where a ebola type plague strikes...is some of the most terrifying TV ever.

I really liked it a lot, but I thought that the plot could have been a little tighter. I liked the theme music.

Yes!! The theme music was among my favorite tv themes ever! Probably not to those who don't know the show, but eerie to those of us who did.

Yeah, the music was definately a big part of the series.

I think one of the main problems with the show was that it reinvented itself each season. The first season was a creepy detective show with some supernatural overtones. The second season was a creepy religious conspiracy/end of the world show with some detective overtones. The third season was a return to the detective show, but sort of a let down after the first two (excellent) seasons.

I found it really surprising that with such a strong lead-in (The X-Files), the show couldn't find an audience.

But then again, Fox sucks.

When it was broadcast here, it was on in the middle of the night and was barely promoted.

I was such a fan of the show that I had my home PC programmed so that when it booted up, rather than hearing the Windows music, you;d hear frank say, "Soylent green is people".

(Not that my memory is infallible and I cannot vouch for anywhere but the States) IIRC, Fox did quite a bit of promotion about the series ATT. The series premiered near the time of X-files movie, and Chris Carter had clout there then, so it would not have been prudent practice to mistreat his new project. Millenium was much more a MotW (Monster of the Week) format as compared to X-files, those have almost always fared poorly. FWIW, I always preferred the MotW episodes of X-files (take Postmodern Prometheus). YMMV. FYI, Millenium's Friday night time slot was later occupied by Firefly, Wonderfalls, Fast Lane, Boston Public, Dark Angel and maybe John Doe.

Yeah, but none of those shows had such a natural lead-in as The X-Files.

That said, 9pm Friday night is a rough time slot.
