First, I've been a SRD fan (favorite author) since the early 80's when I first read LFB. Of course I have read everything by him, most several times. My favorite is MN, but I love them all. I have even been lucky to have exchanged several emails with our beloved Mr. D (don't ask for his email as I will not give it to you).
When I read "The Killing Stroke", I was extremely engaged into this little world, with its few pages. It is my favorite SRD short.
It occurred to me this would be an outstanding basis for full novel, or series, for several reasons:
1) our dear Mr. D's love of MAs.
2) the intrugue of using the MAs and wizards together appeals to me
3) the characters and the world are so facinating for such a short story, I hated when it was over.
Will it ever happen? I would guess that SRD has considered it, but will probably spend the rest of his career on finishing TC. Me thinks we are looking at 2013 for book 4. Unless he is planning on never retiring, we will probably have to settle for this being his last set. Very sad, but very true.

Vey unlikely, SRD will probably write until the day he dies, once a writer always a writer. As far as getting around to writing anything other than TC, well, who knows? Only the Gods can answer that one. There maybe some manuscripts that will make print. Maybe not, think about it, how much do you have on your to read list? On your to watch list? On your to get done before you die list? See, we are all human, stuck to the confines of mortal flesh and the constaints of time.........

It's my favourite of his short stories as well. You can find our discussion about it here: The Killing Stroke.
