How to nominate for a 2009 Watchy - READ FIRST

Post by Menolly »

The categories for the 2009 edition of the Kevin's Watch Awards (the "Watchies") have now been generated. Each Watcher may nominate once and second once in each category by posting their nominee or seconding an already posted nomination in the appropriate thread. Private nominations and seconds will not be accepted.

However, a Watcher may not nominate or second a nomination for themselves, nor can they second a nomination they post.

Nominations are now open and will run through midnight EST, Sunday, January 31st. Should nominations go slowly, this period may be extended. Let's try and get the nominations in though.

Please keep all discussion in the nomination threads to nominations and seconds. For discussion of nominees, please come to the 2009 Rules, suggestions and discussion thread.

For suggested nominees throughout the year, please check the above discussion thread and the 2009 Spotlight Awards thread.

Have at it.

It's the 19th, I went to nominate someone, and the thread is locked. How could you have failed me like this?

Patience, O Leonine One.
I purposely didn't set an hour, just said "January 19th, EST."

Couldn't we have the noms up a bit longer? Like maybe to the end of the month? Or am I just too damn slow?

More than nearly a week?
We're behind schedule as it is...

People will show up in March and say they had no idea we were doing it already. Perhaps a board-wide email message?
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Sheesh, it's not like it's a race. Or that there are lives riding on the timeous completion.

We've started, that's the important thing. I think a slightly longer nomination period is a good idea.

(The email too...I'll ask Jay or Danlo to do it.)

Man, at least a month. I'm overwhelmed by all these threads.

Whatever is said in Latin sounds profound.

Now tell me how much more open can my mind be?

When seconding, please be sure to state who or what you are seconding, especially if there are more than one non-seconded nominations in the category before your second is posted.
