Do you always show?

Post by Menolly »

I am finding this revolver map that Vain put at the bottom of the Index page fascinating. But I have always admitted to being a Watch voyeur. There is also a larger version here.

Every time I look at it, Gator Town is definitely flashing.
And at times, more locales are shown than Watchers signed in.

I am guessing besides hidden Watchers, that guests currently visiting the Watch are shown as well.

But, it doesn't seem to always show everyone visiting the Watch at the time.
Particularly for those on the west coast of the US for some reason.

So, how often do you show up on the revolver map when you think to check it on the Watch's Index Page?

Yee haw....Now I can randomly post things like "I see you, Vader!" "There you are Luci!" "Hey Menolly, nice dress!" and not be lying.
[exaggeration and hyperbole are NOT lying, not in my book anyway].

Menolly, I'm guessing that it'd depend where your ISP is located. For example, it would show my location in Melbourne whereas I actually live a good 2 hours drive away.

You're not the "South Melbourne/Victoria" that is currently showing, Sea? There is also a separate "Melbourne/Victoria" currently showing as well on the larger map.

~*~edit~*~
I'm guessing StevieG is the "Launceston /Tasmania" that just showed up...

Yes, it's a very swanky looking revolving globe.
But if I may ask: what is the point of someone (such as me) hiding their online status if they can be tracked on that globe anyway?
Revolver Map has just rendered that user option irrelevant.

Isn't hiding your online status done so you particularly are not known to be on? There are several of us Watchers even here in Gator Town (they all happen to be one family, but meh). If we were to all have hidden accounts, although process of elimination would say it was most likely one of us, which particular one of us would not be known.

And I really do think the globe shows guests on occasions as well. So maybe there are others visiting the Watch from your city neo, that we can see. Cool, huh?

Who knows? I'm usually there I think, but I don't usually spend enough time on the index to notice. And the big one doesn't work for me.

(But yes, it shows guests and bots as well AFAIK.)

I didn't know what the Revolver map was until I looked for it last night.

Then it killed my internet. *shakes fist*

edit - I took a peek and it says I'm in Troy, NH which is roughly an hour and a half from where I live. hehe
