Titles under user names
I'm sure this has been answered before - if someone could just point me to the thread...
I'm just curious - who puts those titles in? The impression that I get is that it is a senior moderator who happens to like or not like the poster, and uses that either to praise or disparage the poster.
It used to be titles of the Land, whuich, if not terribly logical, at least gave a sense of being part of an SRD site; now it's non-TC terms that reflect someone's personal taste.

You can actually change it yourself, like mine and many others. If you don't, though, it changes based on how many posts you've made. Like "The GAP into Spam" appears if you have 1000+ posts and haven't changed the title yourself.

To change it, click on the Profile tab up underneath the title of the website (where you'd go to add your signature and what not). Below the User name is a field called "Custom Rank". There, you can type in whatever title you want (in my case, at the moment, "Clairvoyant")

That impression would be wrong.Rus wrote:The impression that I get is that it is a senior moderator who happens to like or not like the poster, and uses that either to praise or disparage the poster.

Like Orlion said, you can put anything you like there. If you don't, it stays on the default settings, pre-set long ago.

Erm does the "Custom Rank" thingy still exist in Profile? I can't find it anywhere... so it's either been removed or I am showing my usual denseness.
Newsflash: the word "irony" doesn't mean "a bit like iron"
Shockingly, some people have claimed that I'm egocentric... but hey, enough about them

The jury's back - and I am indeed either dense or blind or most probably both. Found the Custom Rank field exactly where everyone said it was...
Doh!
Doh!
