What are ppl dissecting on "Ahira's Hangar" now?

Post by Linna Heartbooger »

Hey folks,

I can barely handle keeping up with the discussions I'm interested in on ONE forum. (Actually, it's less than "barely" - I just plain don't!)

BUUUT ...those of you who chill on the Watch's Sister site... Would you post now and then some of what ppl are discussing on this thread? I might come visit for a book discussion I'm interested! Or even sign up for some chapters of something I enjoy enough! 8O

I suspect there may be others in the same kind of boat I am... thought about it but never got around to it. So this would be a public service, you understand. ;)

Finally, a couple question: Do ppl mostly just dissect Sci Fi / Fantasy on Ahira's Hangar? And have people ever gone through any Recluse Saga or "Imager" books? (Modesitt!)

We call them more group reads than dissections, over on the Hangar. The ones I know about are the Dune series and Earthsea series.

Linna, the Hangar doesn't get nearly the kind of traffic that the Watch does. It's not a strain at all to keep up with posts there, too. Stop on by sometime. :)

Yeah...we're lazy there.

But like Menolly says, right now, doing Farthest Shore from EarthSea, and Dune (sorta...it's probably my turn...).

Oy. And I have to get back there. Don't think I've commented on the chapter you put up weeks ago.

Nor Duchess' next chapter...

Also, Duchess posts her own thoughts on The Last Chrons in The Land - The Gap forum, which we can then comment on. Not an official group read, but pretty close.

Yeah, I need to reread the chapter Duchess' latest dissection is on and see if I have anything to add. I wonder what the odds would be between me getting a comment in Duchess' thread versus StevieG getting the next chapter dissection posted first? ;)

If an Earthsea book, I do hope you are starting with AWoE and reading the dissections on that first, and working your way up to joining us in TFS. We're going slow enough that there is no hurry, and new insights in to the dissections already posted are always appreciated.

Especially if you haven't read Earthsea at all before, Linna!

Tee-hee Menolly! I WOULD do something like that. ;) ...read the book ppl are discussing before reading the others.

My husband makes fun of me cause if I pick up a Narnia book, (one I've read before!) I will read it out of order. This is mainly cause I'm in denial as to whether I am going to read the book - I open it up just to look at one scene or chapter, I swear!

But no need to fear, we have had A Wizard of Earthsea and Tombs laying around the house at various times, so I've read 'em both. :) (I'm not really sure where "Tehanu" comes in?)

Please go back and read through the dissections of AWoE and Tombs, then? I'll admit I'm particularly proud of the dissection I did on the Iffish chapter of AWoE, and the dissections by others throughout are even better.

Plus Furls Fire took part in the AWoE dissections. Her insights are never to be missed, IMO. Image

Yes, and in that, I find a well-worth-it reminder to me to slow down and listen.
