Home of the Haruchai?

I think Nepal looks like my notion of what the Westron Mountains must look like....

A Cyber-friend of mine will be returning soon from a mountain climb and some philanthropic labor for regional kids. He's uploaded an over 14 minute video on YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTXBEtZLs5Q The images (some still photos, some video) include some spectacular mountain vista, and the music (which he also composed) seems appropriate.

If you've got the time to watch, I promise it's worth it. :D
Incredible as it seems, my Life is based on a True Story.

Yup! That's the place! :D

I posted these a while ago. They're from a picture book about the Himalayas.

Here's a Haruchai girl:

This is her elementary school. (Obviously, it's not high school, where things were extreme and dangerous. They're only little kids, after all.)

Yeah, me too. Nepal is on my second-tier short list. Altho winter camping kinda sucks -- the picture of the fresh snowfall atop the tents made me shiver a little...

Cool stuff, TheGryphon. :)

In my time as a Scout leader, my fellow leaders and many Scouts tended to agree with my statement that "Winter camping is almost as fun as streaking through a blackberry bramble"...but the old-school Scouters certainly did not appreciate my saying this around the youth. They felt that winter camping was character-building.

Ah, an opportunity to paraphrase what SRD had Foamfollower say! "There are ample opportunities to refine the Scout's character when the Scout's body has no other choice..."

"Character building" indeed. :p

We'd go winter camping with the Girl Scouts, but we'd stay in a lodge with running water and a kitchen.
