Some of y'all might like to check this. I didn't look to see if it matters/applies/works for peeps outside the U.S.

For what it's worth...my speed was ranked high, but it was less than half what I'm paying for.
We'll see how it does at various times of day.
[[of course, they never promise anyone any speed, really---they just tell you what the max COULD be if you have great karma saved up, the constellations all align, you're neighbors all go away on vacation at the same time, and it's 3a.m.]]
You don't have to sign up/sign in or install anything.
You can scroll to read what it's all about before testing...in case you're paranoid or have objections to their purpose.

Any time I've noticed a problem with streaming or whatever, I do an Internet speed test. If it's not where it should be, I immediately call the cable company. They give me some bullshit excuse, but then fix it. A few clicks of a mouse and it's done (I guess they reroute and shit).

We've bumped up to 30 mbps, and consistently get that. We notice no speed problems, even with three of us using it at the same time (Youtube, surfing, work, PS4).

You really need to test with a cable connection, because wireless will slow it down a bit and give you less than what your ISP is actually providing. But I usually don't, because the speed tests so high it doesn't matter to me. Sometimes I even get more than what I pay for.

How do I know what I'm supposed to be getting? Call my ISP and ask?

Also, what the hell do all these numbers mean??? I tested it at three different places, twice each. Time Warner is my ISP. Theirs says to connect directly to the modem/router, which I did not; and to limit other devices using it, which I did not. So I know things might be better. Still, does anything here look good? I probably pay for the lowest possible, but I'll find out tomorrow. Off to sleep now.

Fist, your ping is very good. That's the time for a signal to go to and back to the test site. A high number means lag. Speed seems ok, though you may want to check if they offer faster.

Mine for comparison:

Thanks. I just tried the one that shows ping again. Which was 9. Download was 16.48 this time. But I'll look into things, and make sure I'm getting what I'm paying for. Not too concerned with more speed. At least not interested in paying for more speed. But I want what I'm paying for. heh

TWC, you should be able to go to their page and look up whatever your "package" is [net only, net/phone/tv bundle, etc. etc.] and it should say right in the package description what your speed is rated for [[probably the sentence will read something like "blazing fast internet UP TO XXmps, to avoid promising you any actual speed.

Yeah, but I forgot my TWC password. And I don't remember the TWC email address that's associated with the account. So I have to get on chat with them... All because YOU had to go and start this thread.
