Invisibility - possible?

Post by I'm Murrin »

An interesting article on some research into plasmonic covers, which prevent light from scattering when it strikes an object.

One problem that comes to mind is that even if they can get all light to scatter, you'd still be able to see the black space where an object should be.

also sounds like you could see it by switching to infra-red or ultra-violet.

I don't see how this phenomenon would make things look undetactably tiny. If you just don't let light scatter, then it would just look black.

I think the idea is more understandable when you consider that so far it only works for objects with a size equal to or smaller than the wavelength of the light.

Oh great. Every all-female dormitory will have to be outfitted with UV lights.
