Ahira's hangar

Post by taraswizard »

Hangarites,
Is the Hangar down? Is it due to the great Ezboard Hack of Memorial day weekend? Is it coming back intact (bloodied but not bowed)?

Yes, it was affected by the great ezboard hacker raid.   Over 9000 discussion boards were messed up. At the Hangar we lost about 14 months worth of posts in most forums, and had some forums' threads completely wiped out.

EZ board says that they can probably replace a lot of the threads/posts for most boards up until May 9 of this year, and possibly some from thereafter as well. :D :D :D The hacker apparently messed with their backup data, among other things. :(

We are holding our breaths and hoping. :cross:

Ah...so EZ Board suffers from hackers and server crashes, just like worldcrossing.com (where I have my own forums)?

I tried visiting there earlier today, but couldn't get on to any of the forum pages.

I visited today, and had no problems viewing pages other than slowness, but there's definately been a lot lost. Some forums (like GRRM discussion) appear untouched, while others (like Gen Fantasy) have, as Duchess said, lost more than a year. Here's hoping they get as much restored as possible - and at least the board wasn't completely lost.

Sorry (below LM) -I thought Murrin was referring to ASOIAF not our forum at the Hangar  It appears that if everyone puts up with the restore process slowing the boards we may be lucky enough to get 96% back. :cross:

danlo,

Ran's board is not untouched. They've lost a huge amount of posts (pages and pages) and their board is just as slow as the Hangar.

The Hangar has been running funny all week. Sometimes it is down altogether, as it was earlier today. Sometimes you can read the posts but it errors you out if you try to make a post. Sometimes it is fine, other than the year plus of missing data... :? :? :?

If we really cross our fingers and pray-everything might be restored, but the broad will be slow this weekend... :-| :cross:
