its a pretty cool idea, but thinking how Nolan is not an extraneous story-teller, it brings in to question a number of aspects if we are to take this theory as reality... (Firstly, let me just say, once again, that the openess of the film's interpretation/s is deliberate by Nolan... he wants people ...

whoa.. kudos on the Fisher King reference. That scene mentioned was such a kwerky (sp) mix of smaltzy romance and base comedy. Loved it. And let's not forget from the same movie, near the end, when Jeff Bridges returns to the video store and make Mercedes do all the talking ... Love that scene too! ...

OK, the wife and I watched the 3 movies again over 3 nights (we do this often with some trilogies)... and again, after watching them I am struck by how bad this third one is. One thing I didn't notice as much, but became so glaring in its "badness" is the script. The dialogue is positively...

many parts of "Notting Hill" .. I especailly like the part after she has given him the painting and he is summerizing the event with his friends at the defunct restaurant ... the look on their faces and his as he realizes he's fu--ed up is great...

I don't consider myself geeky now, but I was dangerously close in high school. For me, it was something to overcome, not something to celebrate with celluloid heroes. I didn't mean to step on any toes. LOL... I guess I was (almost) always comfortable in my nerd/geek shoes. I definately WAS a nerd/g...

Wooooo! Saw this last night and loved it! It was a movie I was worried would be some generational thing that I would not enjoy (i'm 44). But, geez! I had a blast! Visuals were great! The music was OK (fit the movie), and all the actors were great too!.. especially Culkin. Being from Toronto, it was ...

Hmmm, I think history will hold out that the music the Beatles made was near timeless, and a good portion of their early stuff is the gold standard of that early style. Although there are bands (and artist - Bowie) on that list that I personally like better than the Beatles, if I have to be objectiv...

If he says it's deliberate, I have no reason to doubt him. However, the effect is so subtle, I have trouble believing that anything conclusive can be inferred from this difference in clothing. I can see how it would infuse the last scene with a little ambiguity (much like the split-second sound of ...

In fact, there was no external kick on the plane at all. They were all sitting comfortably in their first class seats the whole time. So how did they wake up on the plane? (Answer: they didn't.) There is a very simple answer to this: the drug is timed. They have to wake up at this time. Unless some...

It's interesting you say that, as I had the same feeling. It's almost as if it was written as one HUGE book; then later when it came to publish it, they had to figure a place to break it up in to two. It did not have any sort of cliffhanger moment. However, as long as you have both books ready to go...

The designer revealed that the final scene is not a dream. They got older actors to play the children as well as new costumes. I just saw this for a second time last night, and I can confirm this. It's very subtle, but it's true. The children are slightly older ... it's most noticeable in the girl,...

I agree with everything .. and nothing. LOL nevermind. YES! Fabulous movie! Is Cobb in reality or not at the end?... hmm, i guess it can be debated forever, and perhaps Nolan wants it that way, not having an exact answer. And it's best that way. It's not *really* important if he is dreaming or not ....

I saw it alone as well for exactly the same reason. I got scardy-chills when she got dragged out of the bed by someone unseen . I think that was the first time for a LONG time that I have experienced that. Oooo totally agree. Loved that part. Even the footprints scene .. simple, but oh so effective...

Paranormal Activity

I didn't see a topic on this...
Just saw it on DVD, at home, alone (because my wife and daughter don't like those movies), and I must say ... it was very effective. Especially that last scene made me jump ... well done, and effective use of the 'found video tape' premise.

King Crimson news (for anyone who is a fan)

from Belew's site: the question which is most often posed is: what is happening with king crimson? so I'll attempt here to answer that question. a few weeks back I wrote an email to my pal robert asking him to call me to talk about something of "heartfelt importance". he called and we bega...

Quixote and Silver (WTF--?!)

from Empire online: Terry Gilliam's run as the unluckiest man in showbusiness looks like it might continue: Warners and producer Joel Silver are planning a swashbuckling, actiony adaptation of Don Quixote, and there's a terrible chance that that might be bad news for The Man Who Killed Don Quixote. ...

"The Silent House" - a movie in 1 long single take

Anyone heard about this? Sounds interesting... From slashfilm.com: Gustavo Hernández’s The Silent House is supposedly based on a true story of a daughter and father who are hired to renovate a boarded-up broken down cottage in a rural area of Uruguay. They plan to spend the night at the house and be...

It's due to hit shelves on DVD next week, but from what I see in the papers here in Toronto, is that the documentary of the legendary trio will have a one day showing only on June 10!

now there is rumblings (even hints from Jackson himself) that HE may direct the Hobbit -- but it's not his goal. The problem is that they are not actively looking for a director now until the studio struggle is over ...
