That could be true, also. It may be Joan serving Foul's purposes, not Linden. And Roger who he has possession of. That would mean Linden just misinterpreted the whole thing.

I can't wait to find out!

Sorry if I didn't make it clear enough.

Kevin's dirt started when Linden removed the staff from the past. Not when she arrived back in the present.

You guys are looking at it the wrong way. Don't consider Esmer as being a friend to Linden. He is a tragic character, but I doubt he's aiding her for love of the Land. He doesn't Help the party and then balance the aid with betrayal. Quite the opposite. He betrays them and then balances the betrayal...

Right, the history that was retold was not just at random. Everything was stated for a reason leading up to events that will happen in this series.

Right.

But why is it named Kevin's Dirt? Surely Kevin had something to do with it. I doubt SrD would just randomly pick a name and attach it if the name didn't hold any siginficance.

There are no previous instances where the Haruchai have used any lore or Earthpower to affect anything in non-physical means. Even the Vow was just an amplification of their own inherit strength and puissance. No. The Haruchai have always relied on their personal skill and strength in combat to achi...

I would opine that while not great, a book in the form of Runes was necessary. The Last Chron is 4 books instead of the usual 3 for a couple of reasons. Both Linden and TC triumphed at the end of the 2nd chron. To have them adventure again in the land without first being broken would be meaningless....

Good point, Wormwood. However, from my interpretation, I'd take the Master's desire to stop the use of earthpower as misguided and influenced by Foul himself "I have only whispered a few words of council here and there and awaited for events to unfold to my will". If Foul didn't cause Kevi...

Yeah, the reviewer clearly doesn't understand poetic intent as far as the "articulate" phrase goes. If you interpret every word in its most literal sense, you have no business critiquing literature.

Good analogy, Wormwood!

As far as Jeremiah being whole, the ending gave me a sense that he was really happy being in the land, what with him waving his arms about and urging the horses to run faster. I think he's probably been healed in the same way as Covenant and Hile Troy.

Yup. SRD really has a keen insight into the human soul and I expect he himself has gone through the varying emotional states of his characters. As have many of us.

There was the prophetic vision she had while in Joan's mind of her back at the one tree with her companions only this time she was the one weilding the ring and rousing the worm of the world's end. Or maybe it was just symbolic of her fears that she might not be able to control to power she was give...

I think the name of the affliction itself holds the answer. Kevin's Dirt. What did Kevin do? Ritual of Desecration. When did the Demondim vanish? Ritual of Desecration. Why'd they vanish? Esmer took them. Who brought the Demondim to Linden after she reclaimed the staff of law? Esmer. When did Kevin'...

Big Theory: Thomas Covenant and Foul combined?

Foul said he had Jeremiah. Now he shows up with Thomas Covenant at Revelstone. So, was Foul lying? Did TC snatch Jeremiah out from under Foul's nose? Or, have Covenant and Foul become one being? In constant struggle with each other similar to the duality of Esmer? But where Esmer is Hatred and Shame...

I imagine if we're seeing actual demondim, we'll probably see Viles themselves at some point as well.

Anyone else think that Esmer brought the Demondim foward in time right before the RitofDes?

We've probably seen all the time traveling we've seen in this series. Knowing SRD's writing philosphy any idea to go back in time again would be met with something like this: "In Linden's mind, entering another ceasure seemed like the only way out of this mess. However, she already knew the une...
