A quick question for the ignorant (ie. me) - what does Shall Pass Utterly refer to? It's a prequel to the 1st Chrons focusing primarily on an ADD nine-year-old, Thomas, having to deal with missing the bus to school... It's actually the name SRD first chose for book three of the Last Chron...

I'm guessing those who read the Gap before the Chronicles are in the minority. What was your reaction to the Chronicles after reading the Gap? Is the Gap your favourite, or did you prefer the Chrons? I had a really hard time getting into the Chrons. It wasn't until my reread of LFB that I truly und...

She is going to read the Chronicles next. I'm excited to see how she views Donaldson's most profitable and famous work, after reading the Gap first. That's how I did it; Gap then Chronicles. Me too, except I read Mordant's Need and Daughter of Regals before I read the Gap (a friend was trying to ea...

OK, I'm determined to re-read it now. Time to put down Memories of Ice (just quietly, don't mention it to SE fans - heh, but I'm getting a bit bored by it - just can't feel anything for the characters.... but that's another topic...). I'll come back later and read this thread again and try to enligh...

As long as you choose it. Good post. And as always, a great story. I think I need a re-read. This thread started in 2004 - did you get around to the re-read? ;) I've only read it once, and enjoyed it a lot, but was confused a bit by the end. This thread has shed some light on it - I think I underst...

How'd you know? :) I used to work at a place where Ali G was popular and hence everyone had a name in that pattern: Stevie G, Kenny P, Daly P, Danny L etc.. some worked well, others not. Anyway, sorry - dodgy post. It's just me (no-one thinks of a song when they see the name 'Vain'? I guess not. :) )

Kevins Watch image

I love the index image "Kevinswatch by Stephen r Donaldson fans For etc.."

Did someone here design it? I have no doubt that someone did of course - it's a wonderful image.

Ki recently picked up Chaos and Order again. She's 30 pages away from Nick getting killed. I keep telling her to continue, but she is still broken-hearted about Nick getting Angus's security codes . I've been telling her that she's only 30 pages away from something really, really good happening, so...

So intriguing. I would love to hear more, Lorin. My father emigrated from Italy to Australia during the 2nd world war. His parents had an amazing story of survival - my grandfather came to Western Aus to avoid the war, and it was 10 years before my Grandmother (nonna) managed to get a boat across. F...

Word association

I just can't help it - it's a subconcious association. There have been some recent posts about Kantian philosophy - and all I can think of is the old Monty Python tune: "Immanuel Kant was a real piss-ant, he was very rarely stable...." And when Wyldewode posts: "Oooh baby baby it's a ...

I think SRD answers this to a great degree in one of his videos on his website (I think it was Wayfriend's question) about how Mordant's Need is truly a story about the societal advancement of women...but that's not really what you get out of it in terms of character development...since Geraden als...

 I particularly like the other driver parking that girl's car in one try after all her attempts. Me too! She was certainly persistent though. I would have given up after a couple of attempts and driven away in embarrassment. Nice one Lorin - I hope your nerves aren't too raw with a new driver ...

Eons ago in this thread I mentioned my difficulty in starting LOTR. It took me a long time, but this year I finally got over Tolkien's style and managed to enjoy the books. Was it the flashbacks? The flashbacks didn't bother me. I just had a hard time adjusting to Tolkien's "dream-like" p...

Geez you're all picky! :P I wasn't aware you were using an undefined neologism in your question. Sounds like thinly disguised condescension to me (I thought that was supposed to be aimed at newbies like me.... ), but I guess it's hard to read 'tones' over the internet - might be me totally mi...
