Did the Dry January challenge without a hitch. Now the harder part of being more restrained and stopping behaving like a 16 y.o. kid when I get some pop in me. ;)

Only made one resolution this year and that was to get a general check-up from my GP (haven't had one in a couple of years). Did that last week and got a clean bill of health, which means that I can now go back to my dissolute ways in good conscience!

peter, I once stopped drinking alcohol as a New Year's resolution and kept it up for two and half years. My close friends were completely miffed for the whole duration (this is Ireland I'm talking about). When I finally started to have a drink again they said that they knew I was 'too sound' to never drink again! While that may be a personal compliment, I'm not sure what it says about our culture's attitude to alcohol 8O

Hahahaha.

The GF stopped drinking a couple years back. However, it doesn't affect me at all, since I'm used to having a completely different diet to her. :D

But drinking in Ireland is different U. Once had a drunken discussion on a bench outside a pub in Dublin. It was late on a Friday night, my companion was a down and out and our subject was Orwell.

As for me, I don't make resolutions. So there's nothing to break. :P

I made and broke my resolution (again); keeping track of everything i read this year. I just read so voraciously lately, it doesn't occur to me... although I recently re-activated my librarything account so maybe that'll encourage me.

Sounds like a fun reason to break that new years resolution!

I use the Watch to keep track. I just post everything in the "What Are You Reading" threads as I go.

Damn right. If I wanted to, I could look back and tell you what I was reading at any given time for the last 12 years.

I've added a resolution...... this year for my once weekly 'special meal' , I'm never going to serve food that I have not prepared myself (ie no supermarket pre-prepared dishes). It will make me be more inventive and adventurous with my food.

I do a lot Av, but am not above succumbing to the easy route of pre-prepared stuff if it looks good (from say M&S). But it's a lazy option and one I intend to stop.

Not so much veg as say the occasional dish like duck a l'orange. I can do it myself, but it's just easier to grab their pack off the chiller and save the bother. Mostly I do my own dishes, but the tendency to this soft option has been creeping up as I get more indolent with age, and I'm going to take myself into a different room and give myself a stiff dressing down! ;)
