That's... brutal.
I know some of the reasons why people don't talk about how serious their health situation is; thinking they'll "spare" someone they love, or maybe they're skittish from the last FOUR intense conversations they had on the topic...
We're not used to conversations that dance on the edge of grappling with mortality.
But then..
This recent loss... friend or family member?

Easy there, tiger.
In the eschaton, when all tales are told, I, for one, expect hear that some of the best deeds I've done were
refraining from speaking at times!

It's exhausting.
"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."

"In spite of much that militates against quietness there are people who still read books. They are the people who keep me going."
