I've never had an account, as a matter of principle. :D I have a G+ one though that I'm fairly active on, but that's for things (and people) that are interesting, not for people I already know.

It's getting more and more difficult to balance that sort of thing. I mainly used FB to keep up with WoW stuff, since my guild's forum is gathering dust. I made it clear from the beginning that I would not be using my real name, and that I didn't want my real name used. But much like with KW, what started as purely digital interaction led to real life gatherings, and as such, quite a few of them do know my real name, and one of them slipped and used it. I know it was an accident, and I realize I am probably too dogmatic about the whole thing, which probably comes off as a bit weird to the FB crowd, but that's just the way it is. I don't need my sociopath ex-neighbor stalking me.

Here's the thing about FB: The way they play with their algorithms about whose posts you'll see and whose you won't, you may never know why a particular person stops showing up in your feed unless you try to look them up.

So no, I hadn't noticed you were gone. But now that I know, I'm sad. :(

BTW, you can remove single posts, and even threads, from your own timeline. ;)

I've always used my real name -- even when I was on the radio. Never had a problem with anyone unsavory looking me up. I guess I was never enticing enough to attract a stalker. 8O OTOH, I hear what you're saying. I can think of a few people who, I hope, never find me again...

I'll post cat pics any time you want. I'll make a cat pic thread.

I have a feeling that they'll try to drag me back when Legion starts (end of next month) - hoping they won't make it mandatory for raiding. Not sure anyone has even noticed that I'm gone - I didn't say anything to the person - it was her birthday and she was probably drunk and I doubt she even noticed what she did, but it will have to be a condition if I return. I don't think I'm enticing, but I am a magnet for crazy people.

I am -bare minimum- hyper-aware of my flaws and whatnot. Nearly every woman on my mother's side of the family has some form of mental illness (some quite severe) - and I am well past the usual age of onset. One of my biggest fears is that something will sneak up on me and I won't be aware of it. I think I take after my father, which is weird for a number of reasons. I don't look like him at all. But a few years back, seeing him for the first time in 20-odd years, I realized that we have a lot of the same mannerisms - to the point where it's a bit spooky. I would consider myself lucky to take after him mentally, since my mother's side of the family already contributed dental issues and several different flavors of autoimmunity fun - but I'm not letting my guard down.

How's that for thread hijacking? Anyone for some cat pics?

Thanks Aliantha. My party just ended and it was more....modest...than I would have preferred, which is a bit of a downer. But those that mattered showed up or had good excuses, so I'm ok. But I'm a bit down, as I usually get on my birthday. Stupid expectations. Bah!

Happy Birthday Cag!

I remember my 40th party was a little subdued compared to my own expectations. Looking back it was great really, but I just didn't count everyone leaving so early (have to relieve babysitters etc). I went to a 50th last weekend and everyone was gone by 10pm! So I have a 45th this year and will approach it with lower expectations :D

Happy birthday Cag. :D

Expectations...the mother of all disappointment. ;)

I don't do anything for my birthday these days. Prefer it to be quiet and unremarked. :D
