Hah. I don't know how to deal with praise / compliments.
So I'll try this: thanks, SD!

On the plus side... since I put off responding to the compliment...
...it meant that when I came back here, I found lots of other people's congratulationary - ermm, congratulatory - posts.
So that's good!

So thanks, sorus, Menolly, MsMary, Hurn!, Rune, Av, ali, & sarge.

This thread has always confused me a bit. I always assumed that Mile High meant 5,280 posts as in a mile being 5,280 feet.
I have spent the bulk of my adult life working in the Land Surveying business and measuring stuff is a large component of what we do so I'm more aware of what a mile represents than most I suppose.

Never mind me. :-)

I think that way back near the beginning of the thread there was an explanation / justification of the discrepancy.

Mostly I think it was about not pandering to your imperial measure nonsense, but "The Kilometre High Club" didn't have the same ring to it. ;)

I'm sure I celebrated when I reached 1609 posts

aTOMiC, I did a Surveying degree - we're currently looking for a surveyor. Wanna come live in Australia and work with me? :D Apparently you'll cease to exist according to Sarge and some others, but apart from that it's awesome!

That sounds freaking awesome, though I'm probably not qualified as I never pursued or applied to become a registered professional. I love Australia (though I've never been of course). In a different reality I would jump at the chance however it seems I'll be working for and ultimately retiring with the great City of Tampa survey department. Besides I don't want to cease to exist. Its sounds...nullifying. :-)

:) I haven't practised much myself in the traditional survey area - more GIS for me. That's why we need someone with land surveying experience... and CAD, I'd take CAD experience as a lot of our clients want 3D AutoCAD delivery.

Anyway.... derail successful :D

I used to be the fastest user and had the highest post count on the Watch some time ago. Now I have to hurt myself to look up high enough to see Av's post count. Heck to catch dAN I have to close a 4,000 post gap. :-)

In any case when I reach 18k it will be noteworthy.
