Hello the Watch!

I am eekay. I first read the first Chronicles in 1979 (red, blue and green paperbacks). It took me two months to read Lord Foul's Bane, two weeks for The Illearth War and two days to read The Power That Preserves. The idea that evil can be overcome through the power of disbelief in its inevitability really appealed to me.

I read The Wounded Land, The One Tree and White Gold Wielder in hardcover back in the 80s. I was less enthusiastic, especially about the ending.

I read the Final Chronicles when I could. I was appalled. I thought I had been given something back, but it was broken.

However...

I just got finished binge reading all 10 books on my iPhone. (I recommend this HIGHLY because you can instantly look up the many, many words you don't know instantly! :) The rereading changed my mind about a great many things. I've made my peace with the ending and I find the writing of the Final Chronicles much tighter and readable than I first thought. I HATED the Insequent at first, but now I see where they have a place in the whole story.

Anyway, I ramble; so I'll end here accept to say that I've followed this board for a while and come back to it recently.

Welcome!

Glad to see that you've revaluated the Last Chrons. Though it's a hard call, I do think that they may well be my favorite. And while they still seem to be a polarizing force, methinks that time will be much kinder to the series than were many initial reactions.

Great first post. Clearly a thoughtful reader of the Chrons.

Since you've followed the Watch for a while, you've probably found the discussion forums on each of the Chronicles (and SRD's other works) and read various threads that interest you. Anywhere you feel prompted to pick up an old discussion or start your own, please do so.

The same goes for all the topics in the rest of the Watch. We talk about most everything - and occasionally at length about nothing - here, as you may have noticed.
