Wherefore and herewith be it known to the parties of Sorus that the parties of Kevin's Watch do issue forth a complaint about lack of presence. Therefore be it know to Sorus that such complaint is now issued and demanding required presence before the peoples of Kevin's Watch. If complaint is not met by Sorus, Kevin's Watch members will be much aggrieved. Kevin's Watch members or designees will not be held accountable for such grievances.

Forgot me for the length of the following. Let me first state I am not looking for sympathy or pity or really anything per se...just a chance to air my feelings.

A year ago today I was let go from a company I had dutifully worked for eight years. The last year of working for that company they dramatically changed my accounting duties to be over cash management and accounts payable and payroll. Basically if I had not agreed to change it was implied that I might not have a job or any job they came up with was going to be worse than this position they had created.

This particular company had cash struggles for years. It was not until I took the position I realized how strained the cash position. Over half of the year there were instances where I could barely meet payroll. I obviously could not tell anybody about this - no one working for a company wants to hear that there may not be enough money to cover their paycheck.

Of course some members of management knew about the cash troubles and they did try to chase down cash to help make payroll. But the constant anxiety on my part to be a party of assisting hunting down cash was wearing me down. Truthfully, I was not handling the stress well. I am all to aware much of this was my own fault because I held myself accountable at a much higher level then could be reasonably be expected. In other words it was not my job to generate cash but to manage what little cash there was.

In December 2016 the cash position became slimmer than normal and I had to make some decisions of which vendors to pay and which not to pay. I was attempting to let management know about my choices but their attitude was basically make it work. Welll......I made some decisions that ultimately they did not care for, which led to my being let go January 25, 2017. I tried to argue again why I had made the decisions I made and that I had been handed an almost impossible situation to manage. They didn't care and let me go on the spot.

However, because of my service for years gone by they did offer me a severance package and allowed me to keep the money earned in my paid time off fund. So don't take my wrong I am extremely grateful for that. I know many employees are just shown a doorway and tough luck buddy.

I held resentment and pain for quite some time. Now a year later I can see it was a blessing in disguise. I was probably going to leave anyways given the stress levels and unrealistic expectations. I am also in a more manageable position.

Well...thanks for letting me air that out...back to your regularly scheduled complaint board.

Nah thats shit sam

It is what happens to a lot of people these days but seemingly especially in the US. I am glad they let you go with your severance package and not just showed you the door. Its hard when you give decades of work to a company, are loyal and hard working and then get shafted.

I hope you can find something much much better and maybe even something you can enjoy and find satisfying.

NB: Not a pity reply

That's rough man. Glad things are looking better for you now.

I've been there, but on the other side of the table...working for a company that was cash-strapped and wondering if I was going to get paid at the end of every month.

(And then, one month we weren't, and we turned up at work and the doors were locked, and the owners gone.)

Ah well, that turned out quite well for me in the end, so no complaints. At the time it was a bit stressful though.

Thanks skyweir and Avatar. Yes it was very stressful. I am in a more manageable situation now - much much less stressfull.

I have also found out over the year that most of the Finance area left or were let go as well.... So in the end things worked out for the best.

I am content now. :)

What's worse is limited toilet paper and no replacement paper in sight.

Thin toilet paper is just some cheap tight wad company or governmental agency way of trying to save money - what a joke - how can you be saving money if people need three thousand feet of it to get a decent wipe.

My complaint today is pressure mounted or whatever stupid system is by some traffic lights to make them turn green. If you are not in right spot you could fall asleep before it turns green for you.

If I had my way, everybodies home page would be the Watch, and you'd have to make 10 posts before it would let you browse anywhere else. Hmmm...

Hahaha, I was there before you, then I gave up, then when I checked again you'd been and gone. :D That's why I bumped the chat thread so we can co-ordinate.

True dilema; returned from New York one-time to discover in a toilet on Reading station that there was no paper in the dispenser and all I had was a wallet full of dollar bills.......

Not going to tell you how that one worked out!
