* I'm still avoiding sending emails that I feel like I've put off responding to for too long.
On the plus side, lurch's word of warning scared me a bit and I started flossing.
Did an internet search, and.. I think the dental hygenist who was like, "here, you need to make your gums bleed like this" was wrong.
On the minus side, that only lasted like 2 weeks...

They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.

There are also things I can't let go too, when I should leave them alone.
I don't go to bed when I need to and find excuses to stay up. I can get by on not too much sleep but I'm sure I'd feel better if I slept more.
At work I sometimes just surf the net, even when I have really important work to do and a deadline to meet.
I hate the dishwasher not being loaded the way I would do it and endlessly rearrange things so that they're in the right place.
Replying to emails is something I always forget to do, especially once they start sliding downwards in my inbox.

There is much sense in the saying 'Don't sweat the small stuff'; the trick is knowing what does and doesn't constitute 'small stuff'.
President of Peace? You fucking idiots!

'Of course - you know you have.'
'Then let it end.'

sometimes I think "why can't I be BOTH a night owl AND a morning person?" But...michaelm wrote:I don't go to bed when I need to and find excuses to stay up. I can get by on not too much sleep but I'm sure I'd feel better if I slept more.
peter- right!
I could obsess about trying to figure out which stuff is "small stuff" and which is not.

Generally I'm fine when I wake up, even with not much sleep. The telling thing for me is mid afternoon when I start to struggle to keep my eyes open, but it usually passes and I'm fine for the rest of the day.Linna Heartlistener wrote:sometimes I think "why can't I be BOTH a night owl AND a morning person?" Most days I don't really get much than about 6 or 7 hours sleep and there's often one or more days a week that I'll probably get less than 6. That's OK, it's when it starts getting substantially less than that is when I start to suffer.

I'm terrible when it comes to family correspondence. If I suspect my email might contain a letter from my father, I will treat it like a venomous snake might pop out if I opened it.Linna Heartlistener wrote:* I'm still avoiding sending emails that I feel like I've put off responding to for too long.

As to the second, I don't believe the goal is to make your gums bleed, though they certainly might if you're not used to flossing. If it stopped after a couple of weeks, you're probably doing something right. If it stopped because you stopped flossing, then

On the general subject of procrastination, I'm sending out an e-nudge to anyone who hasn't checked their smoke alarms recently. Do it now. Now.
Yes, you. NOW.
I live in what is apparently a very flammable neighborhood, and there was yet another major fire here last night, which included at least one fatality that probably could have been prevented if smoke alarms had been functioning.

Laundry!
On the plus side, I did a load last night.
I love doing laundry once I get myself DOING it!
On the minus side, before that, I didn't do it for way too long.
and it has piled up.
(this thread was great... just saw Sorus' smoke alarms reminder. and the dental-flossing poke.)

I loathe doing laundry, but I love having it done. I'm usually not tooo bad about doing it before I run out of Desirable Socks, but I will confess that I have purchased extra Desirable Socks to extend the length of time I could go without doing laundry.
Also, check your smoke alarms.

I only have to go down one flight of stairs to get to the basement of our apt... though first I have to get outside.Sorus wrote:I loathe doing laundry, but I love having it done.
And they also recently made it less gross down there!
Everyone has that "limiting reagent" of clothing in their house!Sorus wrote:I'm usually not tooo bad about doing it before I run out of Desirable Socks, but I will confess that I have purchased extra Desirable Socks to extend the length of time I could go without doing laundry.
Yes, Desirable Socks would be significant.
I tried repairing holes in a couple of my socks for kicks one time.
It was kind of fun, but then I was like "dang, I've extended this thing for like maybe 6 more uses!"

OTOH .. there is great satisfaction in doing the thing youve been putting off till tomorrow, or the day or two after that
And then its almost always like .. wow why did I ever put off doing that thing .... And feeling like a super star .. or a super nova
