Thank You for the welcome. I am a die hard Covenant reader, and turn to the series for further readings in times of upheaval in my life. I truly believe that to understand Thomas is to understand ourselves in many ways...are we all not flawed but capable of great things? Of the Characters, however Mhoram is my favorite, and the one I most closely identify with.

Additionally, I am HUUUGE Tower nut. Given the release of the "Runes of the Earth" and the successive 3 novels, AND the release of the final Dark Tower books...I fear the sun and I will quickly lose sight of one another.

Feel free to drop me a line!

Rob

I'm of course new here. A big fan of what I've read by Stephen R. Donaldson so far. I JUST grabbed all his books at a yard sale the other day
I'm also a big fan of the Dragonlance saga and the Darktower series.

Fan of Dark Tower Too!

Post by SkyDreams »

I agree with the previous posts.....I am a big fan of the Dark Tower books too, and can't believe what a wonderful year this will be with so much great reading to look forward too (I also love the LOTR books and movies and am anxious for the final extended version DVD, so I have at least one good movie to see as well).

Might want to put that in Spoilers, could ruin part of the story for a new reader.

And, for a lot of people thats as far as they get. I know the first time I tried to read the book, I was unable to get past that part of the book. After the shock of it all, I then picked it up, re-read the entire book before that scene again a second time and then really pushed forward. After that the furvor of reading a new book just escalated and man, here I am, on a blitz, reading all the books, second one so far, and its amazing, cheers.

Don't think you've got through the hardest part yet... When I started reading the second chronicles, it was difficult. (although I would never have stopped)

I find I get quite emotional with Mr. Covanent, somehow the writing style, the way Donaldson uses his vocabulary and imagry, you feel as if you're right there, experiencing the same thing. You have to be quite gifted to evoke that much emotion in a book, to the point that you put the book down out of disgust. Despite the uncomfrotably nature of that scene, I appreciate that it's written in such a way that most people are moved that way. Cheers.
