ditto again. I never understood why anyone would want to be all grogged up when one needs to be alert to have fun or enjoy anything at all. Moderation in all things, huh? But when it comes to my tea......

Recently had a weekend away to a beautiful part of my world called Mt Tambourine. Toured a couple of the wineries there and discovered the glorious taste of butterscotch schnapps YUMMMMM and a very very sweet wine called a Botrytis.

Ironically this beautiful sweet wine is produced from a disease that attacks that grape called, funnily enough, "botrytis". Its enough to make my slowly blossoming palette crawl back into the closet.

I do really like wine (white mainly) but it gets me drunk very quickly
I tend to go for the sweet types though. Recently had a bottle from Hawkes Bay(NZ), Chardonnay I think which was lovely and like the Kumala Sauvignon Colombard (SA).

If you like the sweeter types you should try and get hold of some Ice Wine to try. They do both red and white and although quite sweet are an interesting experience. I know that Canada isn't the only country that makes it but not too sure of the others. And as far as I know it isn't due to a disease that attacks the grape.

I used to work in the wine industry and hence took exams in the whole malarkey-more difficult than it sounds. I love wine. At the moment I am particularly partial to new world wines, especially Aussie heavies, esp. shiraz, although unfortunately these reds don't age aswell as the French (lower on the tannins), so they don't keep aswell-no doubt many would shout me down on that one.
You cannot beat a top of the line rioja!

A while back we visited a local winery north of here and I tasted this delicious elixir called 'Shiraz Liqueur'. Id never seen it before and it tastes just like alcoholic chocolate

Last weekend a group of girlfriends and I went to a place west of here called Stanthorpe. We stayed in a beautiful old cottage, with a log fire place, that was owned by a winery. As a complimentary gift we received a small bottle of something called "Moonshine Madness" which was a fortified red wine that had a similar taste to Kahlua. YUMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!
Also good on icecream and for making cocktails. It was so yummy I purchased a large bottle.

I feel that even tho its the dead of winter here, I will be eating a lot of icecream during the next couple of months

If you're after alcoholic chocolate, look for a liqueur called NachtMusik. It's, wait for it...a chocolate liqueur. Fantastic for ice-cream or milkshakes.

Personally, I'm a red wine person, give me a nice Cabernet Sauvingon and I'm perfectly happy, especially if there's dark chocolate to go with it, or a nice blue cheese.

If I drink white wine, it tends to be a light Chardonnay. Lucky for me, there tends to be a lot of good wine kicking aroud SA.

Similar to creme de cacao. That used to be my drink of choice.

For Christmas Eve, our friends were serving a bottle of Reisling.
Now, I know nothing about wine, and I don't usually like wine, but this was sooo good.
The bottle was about three feet tall and was a beautiful, almost cobalt blue.

Does this sound familiar to anyone??
