FINALLY, I can explore this forum

Post by Worm of Despite »

Well, my initial reaction upon finishing Runes was "wow, Fatal Revenant's going to kick ass"--not that Runes didn't. I can honestly say I didn't miss Covenant, as I saw his absence as both necessary and something I'd experienced before to a great deal (One Tree). So I was ready. Overall, a great work; I'm not quite sure yet how it ranks in my overall favorites, as far as Covenant books go.

I especially loved the "Despiser's Guidance" chapter, and I'm sure you all know why. ;) For me, that was the TCTC version of Lethal Weapon, with Foul being the bad cop and Linden being the good. Or maybe that wasn't Lethal Weapon that did that. Oh well.

Anyway, I must say that my favorite chapter was the next to last one, before "Find Me"; so much went on in that chapter. It threw some punches I didn't expect, which is a trademark of all the TCTC books, for me. Seeing Anele shine in that chapter was great--almost as great as seeing Linden verbally unload on those Haruchai. You could tell that their whole "jaw muscles knotting" was their equivalent of :x :x (I still love 'em, though). But, anywho, great book; loved it.

Yes, I thought that this was a very new and entertaining spin on the ole archetypal evil one. Chatty Foul! Normally, he monologues* us at the beginning and again at the end, and everyone wonders what he's up to in between. So I was really at the edge of my seat here. And I was very disappointed when it didn't continue.

You never know, Chatty Foul might make a reappearance later on. :) I'm sort of hoping for it.

Yes foul is definitely much different this time around, it's as if he has evolved into something more cunning, and yet it seems that he may actually be a little more wary also. Could it be that he needs to be watchful of not just Linden and TC, but the other parties involved as well.
Could the other player/s be so powerful that they could be a direct threat to foul himself, or do you think he is manipulating them as easy as he did with Drool Rockworm?

I can finally read this forum too! Woo-hoo! Just finished the book tonight. I took my sweet-time reading it. Soaked in every word.

I had to cover the last page with my hand as I read the second to last page... I knew it was going to be Covenant as one of the strangers, which I knew would be awesome... but the other is Jeremiah???

Amazing. Anything can happen now.

And, jeez.... in this forum, I refuse to post anything too thought inspiring until I read the book again!

I wonder how many others had to cover that last page?

I'm glad I never looked ahead at the last page!

Ha ha - I have to do that all of the time (cover the last page). I was almost uncovering that page line-by-line as I read. Sadly, I had already guessed who the two strangers were (well, I was pretty certain about one of them being Covenant - it was Jeremiah that I wasn't too sure about).

At last, I no longer have to avoid my friends' posts just because they are in this forum. :D First thing I'm going to do is look for speculations about the next book's title character!

Yeah, I've been avoiding this forum assidiously. Got Runes on Saturday afternoon, finished it Sunday night. Time for a re-read I think. ;) In the meantime, will be poring through this forum in the vain hope of catching up. :)

Well, my turn to say how glad I am to be able to post hear and not have to avert my eyes.
All I can say is "WOW"...
I loved it. The use of langauge for me, in the way suspence is built, is a happy blend of old SRD and newer SRD. Love it!
I love Linden too! I have no idea what she looks like, but I am in love with this character! Her passion and strength and intelligence are so damn sexy! (ok, enough of that...)
wow
Jerimiah coming to Revelstone?.... That is so not right. TC and Jerimiah is a bad thing, folks, have no doubt about that. Foul is planting the seeds of despair and the next book is going to be so frustrating.. I can feel it.
... how do you hurt someone who has nothing?... Give them back something that is broken..."
This is bad, folks... Linden is in for some serious bouts of hope crushed before despair...

BRING IT ON!!!!
