Help Me!!

Post by hanna »

Hi there,

I just finished re-reading all of the TC books, from start to finish. I've read everything else Donaldson has written. I don't know where to go from here. What can I read next? Nothing seems to compare. Any advice?

Well, it's either find something else, (and there is plenty that's excellent, despite the fact that its not Donaldson), or resign yourself to reading the same few books over and over. ;)

Seriously, it all depends on what you like. Surely you enjoyed other books before Donaldson?

To be honest, I will and have read anything. Literally anything. I guess it's just that these books are so good that everything else seems a little.....pale in comparison. I'm quite fond of post-apocalyptic-views-of-the-future, so maybe something on the near-destruction of all mankind would help!

Welcome, Hanna!

Tad Williams' 'Otherland' series - that's definitely what you need to read. :)

hanna,

Welcome to the Watch! :)

I'd recommend GRR Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire," and Roger Zelazny's "Amber" chronicles, for sure. :)

Welcome, id also recommend A Song of Ice and Fire.

I'd suggest The Postman by David Brinn, and On the Beach by Nevil Shute (which is my favorite book of all time).

Great suggestions Cail--or start with Earth Abides by George R. Stewart the classic that, pretty much, started modern post-catacylsym--you have to read A Canticle fof Liebowitz by Miller too--that book rules! 8)
fall far and well Pilots!

Well, we're all on the same wavelength.....

I've read The Postman and On the Beach. On Friday, I ordered Earth Abides and A Canticle fof Liebowitz.... Also, the first two books in the Fire and Ice series. Altough, that series isn't finished and I've already broken my rule of not starting any unfinished trilogy/tetralogy (sp?) with The Final Chronicles. Ah well, just keep hoping these Authors are getting enough fibre/sleep/exercise...

Canticle is awesome. One of my favourites. Farenheit 451 is pretty damn good as well.

Familiar, but that's all. Seriously, start a couple of topics under Gen Sci-Fi, or in the library, you'll get far more responses. ;)
