How can you hate someone who stands up to the pompous overbearing smug so-called 'Masters'???????????

Ok in our world she's a psychiatrist-type. That's not good. But she's overcome that in the Land.

There's only one thing to say.

Linden ROCKSSSSS!

I'm going to make her my lead guitarist and song-writer.
Yeah, but the Masters are Haruchai, and around here, love for the Haruchai dies hard. :D
You do not hear, and so you cannot be redeemed.

In the name of their ancient pride and humiliation, they had made commitments with no possible outcome except bereavement.

He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.

I have to say I don't so much have a problem with Linden in Runes. She drove me nuts in the 2nd Chrons because a) she was so pathetic it was unbelievable. Ok her health sense may be more finely attuned than TC's, especially since she is a doctor but the second she 'saw evil' she just caved. Then she thought she knew best about everything and her self righteous whining made me want to smack her one. I actually cringed when she took the Elohim silence upon herself and started with her 'You never loved me anyway'. Towards the end of WGW I started to change my opinion and in Runes she came into her own.

Linden was to much of a whiner in the 2nd chronicals. Now she went to needy, whiny, AND pathetic. If I were THAT bad, I'd do the planet a favor and kill myself. Anywho.....

Linden is a terribly annoying character. 'Nuff said.

Yes, Linden is annoying in many ways, but this just adds to the reality of the story (for me anyway!).

I have met many people in real life who have accomplished great things (ok, maybe not Sunbane-ending, but you get the idea!), and like the rest of us they can have daft habits, paranoia, low-self esteem, egotism....

One of the things Covenant finds hard to deal with is the absolute Nobility and Honour of the people of the Land, as we just don't have such seemingly infallible people in our world.

Linden comes from our world and therefore suffers from the same stressed-out post-industrial ills that afflict most our society.
As TC points out in LFB, we call nature "Scenery", a pleasant thing we can mostly do without. We respect each other very little, and our world even less.

Add to that her traumatic experiences (which like many "real" people she buries inside instead of dealing with), and she's not gonna be the most predictable person around!

Yes, I know it's not as bad as being a Leper, but I found Covenant just as frustrating in the First Chronicles.

I just don't know why we have to single her out:
The Haruchai can be Really annoying with their one word answers and with-holding of information sometimes.
The Lords seem to dither quite a bit, and make some odd decisions.
Elena really thinks it would be second time lucky for Kevin? Doh!
The Elohim (even the nice ones) live so far up their own backsides that I wanted Vain to kick their aloof heads in (he could take them if he had some Ur-viles to back him up!).
Amok is very cheeky (and we know Kevin made his wig just so he had something else to do other than smirk).
The Clave: Hello! Your leader has red eyes and makes blood sacrifices!
The Ramen disliking the Bloodguard is only 'cos they're jealous (get over it!).
The Masters keep the people ignorant so they have something to do other than talk to themselves.

But none of them merit hatred, it just takes too much energy to maintain!

One reason I liked Foamfollower so much was that his main response to unpleasant situations was laughter! I did that so many times when I could see a character being stupid, as that's my usual response in real life!

I must point out that the main object of my humour is myself, and it amuses me a lot that this was meant to be a quick post with no rambling!

I'm afraid I am most likely targetted for burnination due to comments I made in this thread:
kevinswatch.ihugny.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8300&sid=f96a46a78117eae35a37b4a63dee59eb

Besides, I'm too laid-back (read: lazy and Cornish) to be in any "Haters" club!

 ;) You're "naughty" HLT!

Welcome Reave the Unjust! I hear you (for I am a Linden lover!). I "get" her! I think it's such a shame that most people don't.

Remember, Reave the Unjust, Son of Seareach has named you his enemy and seeks to mislead you. It boots nothing to avoid his snares for they are beset with other snares (and he often has a dirty face so I'd avoid his kisses too).

I didn't mind Linden in the First Chronicles at all. Mainly because she wasn't despoiling the books there..

In the Second Chronicles, she was whiny and annoying. But instead of being whiny and annoying where there was room for it, (I mean, the Lords and Warward protected the Land in the 1st Chrons, Covenant had room to whine), she whines when Covenant's trying to do something useful.

The Last Chronicles make me.. Well... *shudders*
Spoiler
Linden: This is my son. He's never spoken to me, displayed any emotion, or done anything but build Lego castles in the shape of the Land's castles, but he's the most dear thing on the earth to me. Did I mention that I had a severe mental disorder? It's called stupidity.

Linden: I am now in the Land. Whoop. Oh no! Lord Foul has my son! The one who's never spoken to me, or displayed any emotion whatsoever! Time to threaten the very structure of Time itself to get him back! Oh, and did I mention my mental disorder is accelerating? It's gone to idiocy now.

Masters: You're fricking crazy. Seriously. You threatened the Arch of Time because you wanted the feel-good buzz from the staff, despite the fact white gold has kicked Lord Foul up and down, and defeated him several times, not to mention the time it destroyed the former Staff of Law.

Linden: *dribbles* *incoherently pats Anele on the head with the SoL*

Yeah, I mean jeez, if we banned everybody from the Chrons who was annoying sometimes, we'd be down to nobody but...um, let's see...Foamfollower. And Mhoram.
