On that word roynish I did a search on OED online and found out it is a very, very obscure word. Last used in the 18th century. I should have pasted the definition on here. (Probably been done before). Donaldson is obviously a dictionary hound, ha, ha like me.
Check it out if you have access. Not even the 2000 plus pages of The Australian Macquarie contains an entry for roynish. I will now diligently do my homework and give the full definition (if it has not been done.)
From memory the word scabrous is mentioned and fits in relation to the ur-viles exterior carapace. And the spelling that Donaldson uses is NOT the usual spelling, the more "common" is roinish. Go figure.

Hi everyone! I'm new here, first time posting. I'm on the third book of the first trilogy, "The Power That Preserves" and I look forward to reading the rest of the chronicles. I probably won't be posting too much here as I am quite involved in another forum, but I'd like to give this one a whirl as well. It looks interesting. :)

If your only on TPTP, be careful reading some of the posts, especially those dealing with the Second Chrons as there are tons of spoilers lurking around. :) We try to "black" them out, but sometimes we just go off and don't think of it. :)

There's more than one Durham in North Carolina? I once heard that there are somewhere around 100 towns and cities in the US named Springfield.

Well, you got me there. I didn't know there was more than one Durham either. If it helps clarify, I'm in the triangle area (Durham/Raleigh). I'm not from NC though. I grew up in NH and have lived in several states all around, but mostly up and down the east coast. I've lived in Durham for 5 years now, and am looking forward to moving. *sigh*
