As for me? Not for awhile.
Yeah, me neither. Haven't had a holiday in a couple of years, and I won't have one this year either. *sigh* Oh well.

I feel inspired today. I came across the Free Hugs campaign, and I'm thinking of doing it. I think I'll try to organize some huggers to go out to Boulder Colorado (seems like the best place, and probably already receptive) as well as somewhere in the Denver area. Don't know when yet, but I can't imagine a nicer way to spend a day of my life: hugging strangers and bringing a little joy into other people's life. And, if I learn to pickpocket by then, it could be very lucrative (I'm totally kidding about the last bit). I have a couple video cameras, so I might just film it as well. And maybe if I can get my friend to write or donate a song for it, it will be even better.

Anyone out there live around Denver and wanna hug strangers?

Hehehe! I don't live anywhere close, but what a nice concept! A hug for you, and for your endeavors: |G

No vacation for me either--at least for the near future. I'm going to KC with a friend for an daytrip next weekend--it's about all I can afford at this point. We'll be going to free places for some fun, including here:

www.nelson-atkins.org/

I'm excited to see a Monet up close (finally!). I went all the way to Paris last year and didn't see a single one! Of course we didn't have time to go to Musee d'Orsay, or L'Orangerie where a large number of his Waterlilies are. But I will not be denied a brush with greatness (pun intended!).

Anyhow, we're thinking about going to some other places too, like the WWI museum that is close by, or a botanical garden. Plans aren't totally set yet. I'll do that early Saturday morning when we're getting ready to leave. :)

Lyr, if for some reason you're ever in Gator Town, our Art Museum on the UF campus has one Monet, the Champ d’avoine...

Does anyone else ever feel like Atlas? Or is it just arrogance to think you've got the world on your shoulders.

Probably the latter.

It's not just the weight of the world, it's someone tickling you whilst you're trying to hold it up

Just looking forward to a long weekend in a few weeks time, no summer holiday for me this year, but we are going to South Africa just after Christmas, so will be seeing in another New Year in the Southern Hemisphere.

Yup, Somerset West, just outside Cape Town.

Revision. Sigh.

Vacation? What's that?

There's a video on YouTube of it in Scotland. I don't know the politics up there, but the Scottish don't strike me as very "touchy-feelie," and the Scottish in the video that do it give the quick hug, back pat and run off.

I woke up this morning feeling rushed.

I have a few errands to run to finalize my packing before getting on the plane tomorrow, Beorn only has a half a day of school today, he needs more practice on delivering his speech before graduation tomorrow morning, the gas to our water heater has cut off for no reason (it's the same bill as our electricity and we're up to day on that. I'm actually nervous, as I've never dealt with gas before and have no idea if this is dangerous or not. There's no smell of gas though...), and...and...and!

Once the utilities office has opened and I've called them, I'll be able to plan the rest of my day. I can see at least a good hour being devoted to listening to Olias today to recenter myself...
