Good guess, Ajk. Actually I got the number of days wrong, but what I meant is much bigger than the end of school. Just remember what forum we're in. 8)

So sad. No it's the Stanley Cup I meant! Friday night either Detroit or Pittsburgh clinch it. I'm rooting for the Penguins myself.

Oh..one of these years a Candadian Team will win.

Don't get me wrong; I'm happy for Sid the kid-He's my hometown boy; but it sure would be nice to see a Canadian team win again.

If only they could find Bill Barilko again.

They will, Drew. Although Montreal was not my favorite team, I grew up watching and really admiring Canadians greats like Richard, Dryden, Lafleur and Cournoyer. I still remember it like it was yesterday. (Don't old folks say that?)

It doesn't have to be the Canadians per se...any Canadian team would be nice.

Perhaps when the Coyote's move to Hamilton...

I don't see any Canadian teams winning the Cup for a long time to come.

Although I expressed it in a separate thread in the General Discussion Forum, I can't let this thread go without wishing Matrixman, Drew, Percipience and all the other KWers north of the border a happy Canada Day. Enjoy and stay well!

Hi All:

Just wanted to add my name to the list of Canadians here. I have been a member for a couple of years now but do not post.

I grew up in LaSalle Quebec, but now live in Toronto, Ontario, right now the garbage capital of Canada. Please send us your garbage as we can use some more garbage dumbs in our city parks

I must learn how to spell. I meant to say garbage dumps not garbage dumbs

Welcome to KW, rem161294! Although I am just across the lake I haven't been to Toronto for some time. I always enjoyed visiting. Sorry to hear about the parks. Back in the 1980's I remember them being quite nice. Well, enjoy your time here and don't be shy about posting...

Thank you Avatar and AjK for your words of welcome.

Ajk are parks are still great, however right now the City of Toronto inside and outside union employees have been on strike since the 22nd of June. So there has been no bi-weekly garbage since then. The city has opened several temporary garbage dump sites (mostly parking lots, parks and arenas). However there are some right now are getting very ripe while the contents of the piles are rotting away as the strike gets longer and longer.

Ahh, I see. Well, as unfortunate as that is I guess it is better than the situation where the parks have fallen into longer-term neglect. Hope the strike is over soon...

Might as well bring this one back.
Any new and/or current members from the Great White North?
