Welcome, Bannor2. It must be a bummer to be a Bloodguard for 3000 years, retire, and then find someone has already taken your username on the Watch.
Welcome, Black Asgard. Lots of writers here on the Watch. You should enjoy.
Welcome, Hashi Lebwohl. It's about time you showed up. But you seem to have brought your propensity for mischief with you. As long as its good clean fun, and not Linden bashing, it's cool.

Welcome, Hashi Lebwohl. It's about time you showed up. But you seem to have brought your propensity for mischief with you. As long as its good clean fun, and not Linden bashing, it's cool.

My avatar is Dr. Strangelove. Interestingly, the way he looks is somewhat similar to Hashi's appearance...which is something I had not really noted before.Savor Dam wrote:Unless I am very much mistaken, Hashi’s avatar bears a striking resemblance to Peter Sellers’ portrayal of the title character in Dr. Strangelove.
Nevertheless, it IS Hashi Lebwohl, albeit dressed to the nines compared to his usual habiliments...and with a nic in his hand.
No, there will be no Linden-bashing from me. I kind of like her...even if she isn't as tough as Morn.
The Tank is gone and now so am I.

Hi all,
My real name is Ken and I've been a long time lurker to the Watch. A long time, 6 or 7 years.
The first time I opened Lord Fouls Bane was in 1979 at the tender age of 20. I've been to the Land, at least by reading, more than a dozen times in the last 30 years. Working my way through, up to WGW so far, one more time to prepare for the next book. The wait is killing me!
I hope to add my two cents in the future, but I know I'll be lurking every day.
Glad to be a member now,
Staff Envy aka Ken

Be Welcome to the Watch, Staff Envy (love the username Ken!).
Be Well Come and True.
...and woo-hoo for Polk County!!
Hyperception and Beorn are headed to Indian Lake Estates next week.
I decided to stay home this time though.
But maybe a mini-elohimfest may be in the works for Chr-stmas-time. Is the sports grill by the closed Food Lion on SR-60 still open?

Hello Everyone
Just wanted to say a quick hello to everyone. I just finished my fifth re-reading of the first two series since they were published and I am now starting the final series. I googled SRD and found this sight so I decided to join. I have never been a huge poster to message boards but I will try my best.
I first started reading the original series when they were first published. I was 13 at the time and was reading everything I could get my hands on.
Now, 32 years later, I have just retired after having spent 24 years in the Navy. I was stationed on Submarines and spent most of my spare time reading. I would reread the two series every few years when I was out to sea. They have remained my favorite of all time.
A strange sidebar...I have always associated the Genesis song Abacab with the series since the 80's. When I would read on the Submarine, I would sometimes listen to music. This song came up several times during key parts of the series and I always thought the strange tones of the song matched with the time frame of the books. Try listening to the song during a key battle scene and you will see what I mean. Has anyone else ever associated a song with the books?
Well enough babbling (I guess I wasnt that quick)...Talk to you later.
Bill
