For a SPOW member like you, ali, this is definitely worth celebrating! (I've reverted to one).

Also, congrats on your first thousand, rdhopeca...and you know what, go ahead and indulge in Mallory's. People get along in there, at least.

Ah, we make fun of the Mallorys crowd, but it's good natured. :D It really doesn't matter. ;)

Ah...
But Mad Hatter is now included in those numbers.
It wasn't when I was playing...

I'm just really glad Xar took my suggestion and started Pantheon in The Close, rather than Mallorys...

Pantheon is definitely a different class of game than the usual run at Mallory's. ;)

Anyhow, thanks, all! And MM, I am embarrassed to admit that I don't know what SPOW stands for.

Congratulations Rob!! :7up:

All the Mallory's debate over the years was obviously before my time, but to paraphrase rdhopeca himself, there are often more intelligent posts in Mallory's than many other areas. :P

Some of my most inspired posts and fondest KW memories are contained in Mallory's.

Ah...the great "Purge" wars...Hmmm....whose job is it to humorously chronicle great events in Watch History? MM? Wasn't that you?

Anyway, I think it probably deserves a chapter. ;)

Missed that one somehow. But you're right, I know everything else. :P

(Did we carry over post counts from EZ Board? I can't remember. If so, hoo boy, my total really is pathetic...)

A ha! So, Pantheon is a Mallory's game then?!? So by extension, all GT games are Mallory's games - how many posts have you done in them Menolly? eh? eh? ;)

No, Pantheon and the other GT games are not considered in the same askance view as Mallorys...but I concur that the distinction is a bit artificial.

While there is some admirable writing in some of the GT games and some pretty lightweight material in some of the Malloys games, there is also a lot of unredeemed interplayer sniping in GT -- some almost as bad as the Tank, which venue some avoid, but none seem to actually denounce. Competitors in Mallorys know it is all in fun and do not abuse each other so. Plus, some of the games do contain some pretty interesting writing, adroit repartee and other redeeming literary virtues.

I'm not posting to knock GT games, or even the Tank. Just saying, all in all, I think Mallorys gets an undeserved reputation.

nuh-uh!!
No way, José.

At the time Pantheon was proposed, the only gaming forum on the Watch was Mallory's. While I lurked throughout the First Age, and most of the Second Age, I was in on the planning of the game from Xar's very first mention of it. He suggested putting it in Mallory's, and I immediately suggested The Close, since it was a game about deities. And that was where it was played for a good year, I think. Then Gravin Threndor was formed for it, since Xar wanted multiple threads. If I recall correctly, it was a good few months after that before any other game was added to GT.

So, no.
Pantheon was never a Mallory's game.

Good points. I think the nature of role-playing games makes everything personal. I'm not here to knock RPG's either, just saying that's one reason why I have not tried joining any of the GT games. I don't want to be caught up in a game's politics and bickering as you noted, though I realize that the working out of arguments among players gives emotional value to a game...as long as such arguments are worked out.
