Hey Newbies, over here first Come on in and tell us more about yourself. IMPORTANT: For new members, please read "New Members Only" BEFORE registering.
My 1st Google on my 1st computer lead me straight to the old board and I haven't budged yet--wavered sometimes-but... There wasn't all that much going on on the old board but people like Sky, Juntel, Amy, aliantha, Hearthcoal and M-Giantfriend kept me hopping. There was also some guy named Jay lurking about!
I found it by doing a search on "The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant". This was almost a year ago, I believe. I've lurked around here in the shadows for quite a long time. Love reading the discussions, especially those in the Dissecting the Land Forum. And of course Stephen C's memorial Forum.
About 4-5 years ago I did a yahoo search for Chronicles of Thomas Covenant and didn't come up with much, but what I did come up with was interesting. I remember finding a small site with an explanation behind all of the funky names that SRD came up with (Sheol, Elohim, etc...) I also found a rumor on another site that SRD was writing a 3rd Chronicles, and when I emailed the webmaster of that site for clarification, he told me that the rumor was not true....that SRD had sworn to never write TC again. Imagine my disappointment. Then a few months ago, while bored, I did a google search for TCTC and found this site - the first page of which mentioned a Final Chronicles. I have to admit I was skeptical at first, til I read Danlo's accounting of a reading that SRD did in "The news that sets SRD fandom on fire" thread. Then I knew it must be true. I've been here ever since.
I am in the process of reading TCoTC, for the first time and was curios to see if there was more info on the books and ran across this. I havent posted much or read many of the forums yet cause I dont want to run into any spoilers, I still have The White Gold Weilder to finish.
Yess be careful roaming around here, there are lots of spoilers! I'm guilty of it, that I admit. We try to block them out, but sometimes in our fervor and our excitment over discussing the books, we tend to forget. OOPS
And I believe in you
altho you never asked me too
I will remember you
and what life put you thru.

~this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you~
...for then I could fly away and be at rest. Sweet rest, Mom. We all love and miss you.
LOL .. the Watch was and is for me - life blood .. because when i had finished WGW ..
i was compelled to this place with a fierce blood lust!! and now .. the Watch runs through my veins and is as much an organic part of me as if i had been born with it in my system!
keep smiling
'Smoke me a kipper .. I'll be back for breakfast!'
Very much like crack... I mean... it's addictive, in our blood, etc... not that you, Sky, personally have ever done crack... nor myself for that matter, but... well...
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Hey, Zeph, I'm sure you meant that in jest, so I'll jest right back with this: How about some liniment to ease the pain from that chip on your shoulder?
During one of my re-reads of TCTC, I started Googling on the more obscure words, and ended up finding Kevin's Watch.
I've been officially Weird ever since. DW
