Yes, thank God. He came to me in a dream last night, and commanded me to join the forums here. He said that if I did not join he would make me a mod, and then smite me. Not wanting to become one of those foul creatures, I quickly signed up, and here I am... you're a mod... uhoh...SNAKE! THANK GOD YOU'RE HERE!

Luckily for us, they make exceptions.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

A newbi says hello!
I've been a huge Stephen R. Donaldson fan for years and have always been disapointed with the lack of SRD content on the web. My last big search was about 2 years ago and I just gave up.
A while back I heard a rumor that SRD was "thinking" about writing a 3rd Covenant series and I almost had a heart attack. LOL Today, while sitting here at work twiddling my thumbs because I have nothing to do, and surfing the web to pass the time I just decided to search again and boy was I surprised at what Google led me to. Kevins Watch.com. Awesome site with great and surprising info!
I've read everything SRD has written with the exception of his mystery novels, I have no interest in mystery novels and have read some poor reviews of The Man Who... series and just can't bring myself to try them.
For me the Covenant series is the best fantasy series ever written, I love the Lord of the Rings series, but Covenant is more gritty and real to me.
The Gap series is by far the best scifi I've ever read. Dark, dismal and just scifi'licious! I've turned on so many of my scifi friends to this series and they have all loved it.
I've read the covenant series at least 10 times over the years and just a few weeks ago started reading it again. I've read the Gap series twice, I want to read it more but its such an emotionally draining series that I need a couple of years in between readings to recover! LOL
I also absolutely love the Mirror of Her Dreams books. They're lighter than SRD's normal fare but completely absorb me every time I read them, and I've read them 5 times so far.
I'm an avid reader as you can tell, but my tastes lie almost exclusively wit SciFi and Fantasy with a little bit of horror thrown in for some spice.
Some of my other favorite authors include:
Orson Scott Card
Anne Rice (early stuff only she seems to have lost it if you ask me)
John Saul
Stephen King (of course! LOL)
Dean Koontz
and many more.
The last book I finished was Harry Potter #5. I love this series and can't get enough of it.
The next series I plan to read are Tad Williams Otherworld series. I've heard good but complicated things about them.
I'm also a bit of a collector. I have many SRD items in my collection including 1st editions of all of his books (except the Man Who...series).
I'm very proud of those books too.
Well I guess I've rambled on enough. Drop me a line and say hello and if you feel like it check out some of my own short stories on my web site: fateke.20m.com
Take care and keep the faith!
Matthew
