I found out this site yesterday, liked it at once. A long time ago I read the first & second chronicles a few times, some parts in English others in my native language Dutch. Absolutely loved it.
A couple of years ago I learned SRD had started writing the last chronicles, and found The Runes of the Earth at the library. I must say I was afraid the new stuff would turn out to be a disappointment. This happened to me before: I'm a big fan of Ursula Leguin's original Earthsea trilogy, many years later a sequel was published, and I just hated it. I was actually sorry I read it.
Back to the last chronicles. I read the Runes of the Earth, and allthough I didn't dislike it, it also didn't really catch me. TC returning to the story seemed a bit cheap to me, you know like Sherlock Holmes being brought back to life, which was clearly not A.C. Doyle's original intention.
A couple of years passed again. I stumbled upon Fatal Revenant on a book fair, bought it, but only started reading about a week ago.
And this time, yes, like in the old days, I got totally absorbed. Love it!, so nothing cheap there.Spoiler
TC of course turned out to be RC (which I guessed at some point after the 10.000 year time leap)
Right now I'm now at the point where(please don't spoil anything from there onwards).Spoiler
Linden meets the giants
SRD seems to have lost nothing of his writing power, and I really hope the final chapters and the next 2 books live up to my now very high expectations.
Just a few words to conclude this rather lengthy post. I don't know anybody who has read the chronicles, so I'm glad I found this site and forum. About the name: as you might have guessed, I live in a town called Oss. I'll add a profile later on.
By the way, I'm reading the last chronicles entirely in English now. Difficult but worth it. See you!
Heh...I think I've been there. Or more accurately, passed through there, when I was going with a German friend of mine from Darmstadt, Germany to Amsterdam.VizardofOss wrote: I live in a town called Oss.
I'm not sure how you would be passing through Oss from a town deep in Germany heading to Amsterdam. But as we have a saying her many roads lead to Rome, so it is possible. Maybe you took the motorway south of Oss and read Oss on the signs.Vraith wrote:Heh...I think I've been there. And thanks to you, I had to fix it in two places, instead of one.TheWormoftheWorld'sEnd wrote:SPOILERS.

(Hey SQ, let's try and avoid unnecessary double posts huh? I merged those two posts of yours into a single one. If you submit and have a second thought, just use the "edit" button to add it to the existing post, thanks.)
