Wow! Almost like coming across a virgin who wants it but doesn't know exactly how to ask for it... someone who has ONLY read Mordant's Need...no TC, no Gap...all I can say is welcome and be prepared for a wild ride...Quiss wrote:Menolly wrote: I am curious if you are the first here because of the Mordant's Need series without having read any TCTC at all.
Yup ^^ I have only ever read Mordant's Need by SRD. But I am really looking forward to reading his other works

What are you looking at?

Sounds a bit like Terisa lol
I'm hoping I don't come across TOO many spoilers, although in some books little hints can often inspire you to read the books so that you can read about the part being spoilt lol
It's a poor sort of memory, that only works backwards...

Quiss, welcome and be true! My only point was that "Mordant's Need" is probably the "lightest" of SRD's books (most virginal?Quiss wrote:Zenlunatic wrote: Almost like coming across a virgin who wants it but doesn't know exactly how to ask for it...

The Thomas Covenant books should be in your library...maybe the GAP books, but maybe not (they didn't sell as well as the TC books)..start with "Lord Foul's Bane", then "The Illearth War" and "The Power That Preserves"...that is the First Chronicles of Thomas Covenant trilogy...once you finish those I have no doubt you'll work your way through the Second...Quiss wrote:Wow, I want the books noooowthey sound so good lol
Sadly, just bought a car so it might be a while... maybe I'll try hunt them down at the library in the mean-time ^^

Aren't you making an assumption there Menolly? Maybe her country doesn't have interlibrary loans?
Anyway, welcome to the Watch officially.
Suggest avoiding all the Chronicles forums and the Gap forum and maybe the Gen SRD forum is you don't want spoilers. Doesn't guarantee safety, but should get away with hardly a scratch.
Don't forget SRD's short story collections either...think you'll like those. Daughter of Regals and Reave The Just.
Have fun.

Hi All.
Just got back into reading TCOTC again on my new Kindle reader after being an avid fan back in the 80's.
Must say, it's even better the second time around and the aid of the built in dictionary on the Kindle is a Godsend for my uneducated self.
Looking forward to connecting here on Kevins Watch.

Welcome new peeps!

For Myles--
When evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
For Mom--
Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.
Fly...fly high against the sky...
Thank you, thank you, thank God for you
The wind beneath my wings

And there is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love

Sanskrit! Interesting! What's it translate as?

Hi Cambo.
Dwaraka is the shortened version of my full name which is... Dwarakadisa Das... pronounced Dwar-ka-deesh Das.
Dwarakadisa is a combination of 3 words...
Dwara = Door. Adi = Original. Isa = Controller.
Das = Servant of.
Literally it means 'Servant of the orginal controller of the gateway to the Spiritual World'.
Dwarakadisa also refers to Lord Krishna who was the original controller of Dwaraka city.
So in short Dwarakadisa Das means 'Servant of Krishna'.
