Hey, Nunez. We can only hope our favorite literary great becomes widely recognized as such in our lifetimes ... or, better, his. Welcome to the watch.

Hi new people! Welcome to the Watch! :welcome:
For Myles--
When evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love

For Mom--
Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.

Fly...fly high against the sky...
Thank you, thank you, thank God for you
The wind beneath my wings

Gil-galad was an Elven-king.
Of him the harpers sadly sing:
The last whose realm was fair and free
Between the mountains and the sea. .

His sword was long, his lance was keen.
His shining helm afar was seen.
The countless stars of heaven's field
Were mirrored in his silver shield.

But long ago he rode away,
And where he dwelleth none can say.
For into darkness fell his star;
In Mordor, where the shadows are.
:D Gil-Galad! Welcome home. Anyway, its only been 3 years. ;) (Damn...3 years...)

I just recently joined and thought I would come in and say hello. Mordant's Need is one of my all time favorite series. I read Mirror of Her Dreams when I got it from a book club, probably some time in the 1980s. I couldn't put it down, and as I was getting toward the end with only a few pages left, I kept wondering how they were going to resove everything in those few pages. Got to the end and saw the To Be Continued and actually threw the book down. Fortunately, a Man Rides Through came out that December. We were out shopping for Christmas presents and I saw it. I never buy hardcover books, but that one was in my basket before you could blink. We drove home to visit family for the holidays (about a 4 hour drive). I would start reading the book, DH would yell put that book away! I would put it down, wait a little bit, pick it up again. the whole trip up. I finished it over the visit and left them for my sister to read. I can't even tell you how many times I've re read them, and thinking about doing it again. I went and looked to see if there were Nook versions, but to my disappointment there are not. Anyway, hi all, I will probably pop in here from time to time, especially if I do start re reading.

Welcome, Misty! I had the exact same experience with Mirror of Her Dreams. I finished it while my in-laws were visiting; they thought something horrible had happened when I cried out, "AUGH! He *can't* end it there!"

Poke around the Watch a bit -- we've got a lot more here than just talk about the books. 8)

Greetings, Misty, nice to have you here.

Mordant's Need is one of my favorites, too.

I read it long before I read The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant.

YAY! Another MN fan! I've actually had the good fortune to tell SRD to his face that MN is my favorite and tell him exactly why I loved it so much. It's a serious that makes me laugh out loud and actually sob so hard I have to put the book down at specific points so that I can gather my wits back about me. We could also use some fresh blood in the MN forum so feel free to liven up the place with new threads or revivals of older ones.

Sorry I've been so lax on welcoming all you noobs. Welcome to the watch and a special welcome back to my ex husband Gil-Galad.
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

I did too and was disappointed with Chronicles. I've reread MN many times, but not Chronicles.
