Hi Poider,

Welcome to the Watch!

The welcoming party will be along shortly I'm sure, but just to let you know that this is a great place with great people and plenty to do. Have a browse around the threads and don't be afraid to post on old topics or start new ones. We mostly don't bite (except in the Tank where it's best to bring your birthday suit of thickest skin (chainmail is good too, plate armour better, Kevlar the best  ).

Be True!

Hi Peter,

There are a number of Watchers from Oz. Your first welcomer, for example, she's from your part of the world.

There has been a bit of controversy over Oz at times, such as proof that Australia is a myth. So don't take it for granted that all of your claims will be believed by all of the people

As to reading slowly, there's no rush, The Last Dark isn't due out until 2013 (I think) so you have plenty of time to catch up. (I haven't finished AATE myself yet!)

Check out the Mordant's Need forum and if you like sci-fi you should be sure to have a look at the SRD's Gap Series. A lot of people here reckon that they are his best books bar none (I disagree but then we spend a lot of our time here disagreeing but that only leads to more stimulating discussions  )

Be Welcome to the Watch, Poider.
Be Well Come and True.

While the mods try to catch any spoilers outside of their proper forum, some do slip by. So, be wary of Last Chron spoilers as you peruse the Watch. But don't let that stop you from exploring the site; there are all sorts of topics to discuss here!

I have not read the gap series as yet, they are hard to get here in Australia, I have just found a copy of 'Fatal revenant', I have never seen a copy of 'Against all things ending'.
Does anybody else in Australia have this problem?
As for Australia being a myth,
I see Myth and Legend as being very similar, so I agree.
Australia is Legendary :D

Hi Poider,

I was able to find both FR, AATE and The Gap series at my local library. Have you tried yours?

Otherwise The Book Depository is good for very reasonable prices (compared to our inflated local ones) and quick free delivery. I just sourced most of the Malazan books there for under 10 bucks a book.

And a fine point you make about our legendary mythical home :D

I have not tried the library as I prefer to own the books that I read, but I guess that is an option worth pursuing, as for the book depository, forgive my ignorance but what is the book depository?

Oh nothing, just God's gift to bookaholics....

www.bookdepository.com/Against-All-Thin ... 0575083431

I probably shouldn't have given you that blue stuff. You'll remember me as the girl who gave you your first hit and led you astray. AKA, BD is addictive! Delivery usually only takes 7-10 days, it's free and books are half the price we pay. (E.g: link above is for a brand new $13 copy of AATE).

The parent site is in the UK (bookdepository.co.uk). I gave US link because current exchange rates make books from there a little cheaper, but always worth checking both.

Ok, later junkie!

Thanks for that link, Shaun (book depository.co.uk) I've never heard of it before.

Tried to explain to my grandson (aged 6) the other week why Shaun is called Shaun (shorn/Shaun). After I had explained he said "Yes, but why is he called Shaun?". Doh. Must be something to do with Piaget's theory!

Hmm...until you posted this, I don't think I ever noticed that you're from Australia. :)

And btw, did you change your avatar recently, Schaun?

Whether or no, it's cute. :)
