I'm not yet technically a kiwi - I've been here only a year - but I plan on becoming one. Friendliest people I ever met, but then again, I don't get out much.

Hail!

I thought I'd already posted here, but there's no entry...weird.

Anyway, I'm from the capital of Oz, the Emerald Ci...oh wait, I mean, Canberra.

I first read the Chronicles many years ago, but it wasn't until a few years ago that my friend Skyweir found them and that's how I discovered the site. Even so, I didn't join at that time because life was too busy and I was hardly getting time for any posting anywhere (I think there are some Watchers that know me from Hatrack as enjeeo, so let me just say 'hi' to them).

As well as that, to be perfectly honest, the first installment of the Gap series put me off SRD for quite some time, and I hadn't felt eager to revisit. But in spite of that, I realised in discussions with Sky that I really do love the Chronicles. Not since Tolkien first told me about elves, or Lewis about the hnau, had I felt so enthralled - I feel that way about many of the peoples of the Land, but especially the Bloodguard and the Giants.

So here I am, just starting a reread of the 1st and 2nd Chronicles in preparation for the very exciting release of the 3rd (!) and eager to discuss it all.

I have not welcomed folk in a lonnnngggg time, it appears.....

Welcome to all - this is a great place to really get into our favorite fantasy work & have a load of fun, also.
Rivenrock - I agree, only Tolkien can compare to the feeling I get when I read the Chrons & imagine all the peoples that inhabit the Land.

Welcome all, be welcome & true!!

Hello, tomo. Welcome to Kiwi's--er, I mean, Kevin's Watch! :D

Also big hello to Mr. Big Bad Dude: Satansheart Soulcrusher! I'm sure your very name will inspire fear in every forum you choose to visit--um, I mean invade!

And most curious: Rivenrock, have you joined with Skyweir and Earthblood to become the Southwestron Triumvirate or something? 8O

Greetings from a Haruchai-ologist of sorts...

Post by Durris »

I found this board during a late-night Google search on
the search string "Tuvor"! All more widely used relevant
names (Haruchai, for example) brought up more
gaming sites and gamers than primary Donaldsonian
sites. And "caamora" turned out
to be a widely used general webserver.

I'm a free-lance editor and writer (all non-fiction so far) and
independent/amateur F/SF scholar, and have 2 articles out on the Covenant series:

"Brothers of Perpetual Responsibility: Monasticism, Memory,
and Penance in Cassutt, Donaldson, and Straczynski", Mythlore
91 (Summer 2003):51-61.

"Martial Illuminations: The Dorsai and the Bloodguard," New
York Review of Science Fiction
: 14(12) (#168, August 2002), pp.
1, 8-11.

I look forward to meeting y'all (OK, so I'm from the southern
reaches of the Westron Mtns. originally  )

Greetings all!

I stumbled upon this site searching for an official SRD website.

I didn't even bother to try to pick a name from the SRD universe figuring most of them have already been taken :P
