Greetings from an old sojourner

Post by Huryn »

Hi fellow travellers!

I'm making a return to The Land after more years than I care to remember. I recently introduced a friend to the delights of The Chronicles and found myself re-embarking upon the journey once again myself.
I am now in the middle of the second Chronicles and thought it would make it a more enjoyable journey to travel with other like minded souls rather than repeating the journey alone.
I hope I shall make your aquaintances along my way... In the meantime Linden appears to have her work cut out in Bhrathairain!

And as fast as they can

Welcome, Huryn! :bestwishes:

I hope you're going to enjoy being here, there are many interesting discussions about the Chronicles, in-depth analysis, artworks etc.

I gather from your words about years ago that you haven't read the Last Chronicles yet, right? In case you don't like spoilers, the corresponding Last Chronicles forum and the Last Chronicles sub-forum in Dissecting The Land are full of them, so beware)

Greetings Huyrn. Lovely horse.

ETA: I was going to correct my misspelling of your name, but on second thoughts, it's important you're welcomed by all sections of the Watch community, dyslexics included. ;)

Be Welcome to the Watch, Huryn.
Be Well Come and True.

From your member name and avatar, methinks it would behoove yourself to drop in to the Hopeful Riders thread, and make the acquaintance of The Plains of Ra.

You judge quickly, co-mod. Perhaps Huryn suffices without calling on others to carry him.

Still, while Huryn may not be a Hopeful Rider, a visit to the Plains is always worth the journey...

Welcome, Huryn! May you thrive and contribute here.

Please note I didn't say "and present yourself to the Ranyhyn..."
...but feel free to do so anyway, Huryn.

Hello Huryn
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

hiya all!
I thank you for your warm welcomes.
Do not worry, I have no fears of spoilers, I have travelled The Land before, journeying far 'against all things ending'
In my frustration and despair at finding myself at such a desolate place and with eons stretching before me before learning the next chapters I threw myself back to the very beginnings and embarked upon the journey anew.

Hmm, yes, with my love of horses I do desire to roam the plains of Ra, but I shall refrain from offering myself to the Ranyhyn, I am hardly worthy of the horses I ride here, let alone the great masters of the plains. What would they think of a man who wishes only to linger and absorb the vistas before him? I have no quest or urgent need to travel, at least not that has been revealed to me anyway, I'm sure that should the Ranyhyn identify a need, they will bring it to my attention in good time. :-)

I shall take a little time to familiarise myself with my new surroundings, please bear with me if I should seem a little quiet, I have a great deal to catch up on it seems!

Thank you again for your welcomes,

Huryn

Please do be sure to click on the link (in blue text) to take you directly to the Hopeful Riders thread. It is one of the best reads on the Watch, in my opinion. Plains has a gift for revealing the names of the Ranyhyn to those chosen.

And have no fear. Several have dropped in to the plains to visit, without presenting themselves to the great horses. Feel free to leave a comment to note your dropping in.

No! That way lies madness. You can never catch up. Leap right in and you'll get used to it in no time. :D

that's a fact, and for sure. hell, it would take some serious man [or woman] hours just to track the Av-masters contributions...even though many are quite short you kinda need the context of the surrounding posts.

"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
the hyperbole is a beauty...for we are then allowed to say a little more than the truth...and language is more efficient when it goes beyond reality than when it stops short of it.
