Hi Giantpal,
Even though you are familiar with it, Welcome to the Watch!
It's always nice when a lurker breaks cover, it must mean that we are doing something right (or at least not doing too many things wrongly
)
If you haven't already joined the forum for The Last Dark, click here and join up. If you're not added in a couple of days give dlbpharmd or Avatar a PM and they'll add you.
I probably don't need to tell you what's on offer on the Watch, but just in case you don't venture outside of Chrons threads there's also plenty of other stuff like: music, films, literature, other fantasy/sci-fi, games, politics, sports etc. Take a look around, get your toes wet and add your voice and presence to the Watch, we'll be the better for it!
Be Welcome and True!

Greetings, Giantpal.
So, do you frown on Despite and on Soulcrusher himself, like those Giants and their friends often do, or do you have a more tolerant attitude?

I have many names... and may play many roles
So that it's clear: I'm not the Lord Foul who was on the Watch before, from 26.10.2002 to 16.06.2012

the old Ralph Bakshi LOTR release?
Yes I am, embarrassingly back in the '70's I predicted that one day when computers became powerful enough we'd have REAL LOTR movies... lived to see that one come true! And btw, how do I get a LA badge ?wayfriend wrote:Welcome to the Watch, Mekon. Hope you find what you desire.
I second thatIolanthe wrote:kevlar56 wrote:Also, I think I should be upfront about this... I have ALWAYS loved Linden Avery and felt that THOOLAH was not only without merit, but never understood her at all. Especially in the Last Chrons.. Welcome to Linden's Army!
BTW, does your avatar imply you're a fan of a certain movie, kevlar?

I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

Greetings to my fellow Donaldson fans! I first read LORD FOUL'S BANE when I was sixteen back in 1981, and while I didn't take to the Thomas Covenant character in any traditionally positive way (I pitied him for being a leper but despised him for what he did to Lena) I was very inspired by the health and beauty of the Land and the generosity of its inhabitants. I became appreciative of Covenant as well when he came to his personal turning point of risking his own health in saving the snake-bitten little girl. I love the short stories and the Mordant's Need books also. Currently I am savoring the final chapters of THE LAST DARK, and will be interesting in reading what others here think about it, once I am done. Greetings and best wishes to everybody! I've been visiting this site for a few years and have really enjoyed all the insights. Thank you!
Welcome Cord Hurn

Welcome to the Watch, Cord Hurn!
I notice that in your recap of your SRD reading, that there is no mention of the Gap sequence, which many of us believe to be his best work so far. I encourage you to read these; persisting past the first two volumes, since the real gold of the series is in the last three books (which make far less sense without the first two, so read them all!)
Also recommend that you read the Man Who... mysteries. Now you've read the whole SRD catalog. Don't you feel better (or at least better read) now?
May you thrive here...and contribute. In other words, keep posting.

I appreciate your recommendation, Savor Dam, and as I am just finished with THE LAST DARK (loved it, BTW), I plan to take up the Gap series soon. I would also like to see SRD's take on mystery novels with the Man Who series, but am finding it a challenge to locate them in the bookstores here in Tucson. Perhaps amazon.com is the way to go...?
