Also, I think it's awesome you had a trip up to visit lorin - though I know that's a bit like 'old news' on this hoppin' thread!
How fun! Pretty sure every mom wants to grow up to be still want to take classes with her kids in a shared interest. Also... you amused me with your 'hoping to be lousy at it.'ali wrote: On Wednesday evening, Magickmaker and I are taking a class at the yarn store where she works. They're going to teach us how to use a drop spindle. I am hoping to be lousy at it, because the last thing I need is another yarn-related hobby.
ali and Ananda-
As far as selection in a yam store... I dunno... there's the purple yams from China.
I bet you can find enough species and consistencies...
Maybe it'd do best if it was selling seed yams...
Change that that; The Yam Store will DEFINITELY do better selling seed yams... the varieties matter SO much more to farmers.
Ananda wrote:I read this as the *yam* store where she works. The whole concept of a yam store was very intriguing. I remember writing haikus about yams while reading Ralph Ellison because we could tell he was a yam eating kind of man.
Hehehe! (enjoyed this line in spite of me not having prior familiarity with the Ralph Ellison reference)
And now, further back upthread - lorin!
Your aunt Dina is pretty and - apparently - kind of totally awesome.
Sarge- congrats on your success in the exercise!! awesome, man.
I thought of you awhile back when I asked a friend what her favorite animal was and she said - to my surprise - OCTOPUS!
I've had an awesome morning - took my kids to the pet shop to look at the awesome animals.
it was a selfless act for the childrens' edification entirely.
not at all for me to obsess over the adoooorrrable blue-mutation peachfaced lovebirds with slate gray heads which where super tame-looking and coming to the front of their cages. *sigh*
as I said, just for the kids.
not at all for ME to flip out over how awesome the bearded dragon lizards were... and some awesome kind of striped yelllow-and-black Texas salamander.
Okay, maybe I thought i was in Eden for a bit. *bliss*
