That is one very beautiful ship. And I would agree this would be within the imagination of a modern American woman, such as Linden Avery.

However, I enjoy reading Micheal Moorcock, from time to time. And the artist Rodney Matthews has many paintings either inspired or rendered directly from Moorcock story text.

This will illustrate the more dreamlike quality of the fantasy Giantship I had in mind.

Of course a ship built from granite would work, simply because it is set in a fantasy dreamland.
But then, on the back cover of my First and Second Chronicles, it says that Stephen Donaldson, wields symbols powerfully. Therefore, my book says it's symbolic.

I suspect that there may be a way to deconstruct the symbolism.
Without giving away spoilers, there is a sea tale that tells of a sinking ship involving Pitchwife and his Father-in-law. Needless to say, the ship remained afloat. Therein might lie an answer.

In the Summonsing, Dura Fairflank mentioned she has yet to read the Last Chronicles, Frostheart. So she probably wouldn't understand references to Moire Squareset or the Ironhand--not yet, anyway.

This might fix it:

When I was registering I had not thought of a username. When asked for one I grabbed the First Chronicles and did a quick scan of the index. The name Dura Fairflank made me think of the name Douglas Fairbanks - which I liked.

Oh well, I'll leave it as it is for now. If it causes any future confusion I'm hoping I can ask an administrator to change it to a masculine username - which would save a cumbersome re-registering.
