I did what? I was trying to think of a good way to tally post-counts, short of being on at midnight on the last day of the month.ussusimiel wrote:If this is going to happen someone is going to have to start the thread. I nominate Sorus to run the competition, since she suggested the idea in the first place![]()
I'll contribute to the prize fund and help out with monitoring etc. (as well as posting as much as I can!)

Counting posts should be fairly straight forward, people post their starting total to enter the competition and tally from there. For the people who push us over the different limits, we can depend on honesty (and screenshotsSorus wrote:I was trying to think of a good way to tally post-counts, short of being on at midnight on the last day of the month.

So, we beat last month, but we're going to need to step it up a bit.
I don't think I suggested the competition; I suggested flogging people until we start making goals. Though some of them might enjoy it.

Sounds like a challenge (competition) to me!Sorus wrote:If we break 4K every month this year, we have a chance of hitting a million total by this time next year.
No pressure.

oh, that is great.MsMary wrote:Pot, meet kettle...
Took me a bit.
But I don't think I should believe it..
I was reading this one book where the author was trying to make people to think about cultures that explain EVERYTHING using fables/concrete allegories/fables. (non-Western ones... Chinese cultures, tribal ones)
And there's one point where it's like that author just busts out two different common metaphors that we use all the time and is like, "Anyone who would (blah blah blah) needs to be careful of being the pot calling the kettle black!"

It's a book on the topic of.. communication and contextualization of the Christian sacred story. (no reading all our "secret methods," sorus!)
Just kidding; no sneaky mind-control tactics.. at least, I think.
I think it's quite multi-disciplinary; it's got lots of ways to attack difficult cross-cultural problems.
If you search under "books" on Amazon for "David Hesselgrave," it's the first hit right now.
The bit about thinking/communicating chiefly in parables / fables was from:
"Concrete Relational Thinkers" under "Cognitive Processes-- Ways of Thinking."
